  1. That does indeed look awesome :) I haven't tried it out yet, but a friend of mine has and he says that it's much better than Windows 8. The start menu on Windows 8 is a pain not having, but there are alternatives that can be downloaded, for example I use Classic Shell. I have a feeling it uses slightly more resources being an external program, but it's better than nothing. Glad to see them bringing back the start menu, anyway. What would you say the best part of Windows 10 is? Do they still have a start screen?
  2. That's too bad @LordPaultheDubious, very unlucky! Best of luck next time :)
  3. According to this, everything seems to be in order on your end of things. The only thing it doesn't tell us is what version of the game you have. The symptoms you're describing are that of someone playing 1.4 and someone else playing 1.4.1. This, you can verify by: Pressing WINDOWS + R -> type "regedit.exe" -> [Press Enter] -> Search the registry for "Firefly" & "Stronghold 2". Check any registry values by left clicking on them and see if anything says either 1.4 or 1.4.1. Providing you don't alter anything, this will not do any harm to your system. If you change something somehow and don't know what you're doing, without exactly following the guide above, it could break your machine. We are not held responsible if you do. Could you provide with the exact steps which you perform when playing GameRanger? For example, do you play with random people or certain people?
  4. Indeed then, it does seem that Firefly does not have a publisher for this program.
  5. Could you let me know where you got this from then? I don't have a problem with Windows 8. As I said, the application doesn't have a publisher, so Windows Smart Screen attempts to block it. See the attached image.
  6. Sorry, posts do not get deleted unless there are extenuating circumstances. Please see this topic for more information: http://forums.stronghold-nation.com/topic/122-account-rename-delete-post-removal-requests/ Thanks, I've posted it :) http://www.stronghold-nation.com/article/168-adding-custom-messages-in-the-lotr-mod Also the program linked to does not work, it says that a dll file is missing from my computer. Does the second and third parts work with steam versions of the game? Unfortunately though, since your username is not Teutonen Ritter, the option is not available as the account does not exist.
  7. Nothing appears to happen when the file from the attachment is opened? Also the application has an unknown publisher which brings up an error, though it is not a virus, this might be something you want to look in to as people with less computer knowledge may think it could damage their PC.
  8. Welcome to StrongholdNation @Lord Stronghold! :) Thanks for the awesome tutorial, this was really clear to understand. Would you mind if I posted this on the main site as an article? (under your name of course) :)
  9. I've posted this on the main site under a tutorial, but since this helps people to modify the game files which wasn't possible beforehand, I'll post a link to it here: http://www.stronghold-nation.com/article/167-enable-viewing-all-game-files This can be a help thread in case people need assistance with it :)
  10. This topic may interest you: http://forums.stronghold-nation.com/topic/331-stronghold-3-current-state-performance-and-multiplayer/ I don't see anything drastically wrong with Stronghold 3. While it's definitely not the best game, it's playable and you can still play multiplayer .etc. So if you were intending to play skirmishes, you could play online matches instead with other people (us for example, by adding a new gaming event).
  11. I've just tried with a fresh install on my new operating system - the game is very slow but does load multiplayer. You can select the LAN option, though I'm not sure whether or not it will allow you to start an actual game through it as I haven't tried.
  12. Yes, please do - The more entries the better! Thank you for your entries and [user]nigel]!
  13. GameRanger: http://www.gameranger.com/download/ Whenever I try to go into the multiplayer menu without going through GameRanger, my game crashes. Maybe it's just an instability, who knows...
  14. I'm afraid not. The last patch for Stronghold 2 is 1.4.1, and 3 has also been abandoned as well. With that in mind, I imagine that Stronghold 1 & Crusader are also abandoned too.
  15. Since last time, I have also found out this: http://stronghold.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/forum/display.cgi?action=ct&f=22,68,,365
  16. My laptop has broken and I'm currently using my old Windows 7 machine, so it will have to wait until I have that fixed. But I'm guessing that you may be able to change the animation in the meshes/units/models/animations folder (I think that's right off-hand)
  17. Different as in 1.4. I've yet to see a case where 1.3.1 & 1.4.1 are incompatible (bar maps). 1.4.1 & 1.4 are the versions which people were likely using, the same issue happened to me before.
  18. The worst thing about 1.3.1 is the moving knight glitch- you take a knight, attempt to mount him on a horse, while the horse is moving towards him, you move the knight and he can never mount another horse in the game ever, even if you dismount him and try again. Unfortunately, Firefly only got around to fixing that one in version 1.4.1. But 1.3.1 is best for debugging purposes too in mapmaking. When making maps, 1.3.1 is also the best version because of backwards incompatibility, maps made on 1.4.1 will not play in 1.3.1 & 1.4, but 1.3.1 and 1.4 maps will play in 1.4.1. Whenever I make a map, I use 1.3.1 for that very reason. It will also tell you if something is wrong in a map, for example an invasion. If there is an issue with the invasion, 1.3.1 will crash - 1.4.1 will continue playing. So you can be sure that something you do in 1.3.1 should work across all game versions.
  19. That's a really useful feature which I like. I can't remember noticing it in Legends, but then again, it's much easier to do in Legends and there isn't any real economy compared with Stronghold 2.
  20. Awesome, thanks! :) Here it is: http://www.stronghold-nation.com/article/166-changing-the-default-keep-type
  21. I've just realised that you're still a new member & can't use attachments. I've promoted you, you can now attach files directly to your post. Make sure you go to the reply page directly as there is no attachment feature on quick post.
  22. This is a good article. Would you mind if I posted this on the main site? (under your name of course) :)
  23. Here is the LOTR mod (what was done of it anyway) http://www.stronghold-nation.com/downloads/file/40-sh2-lord-of-the-rings-mod/
  24. I haven't played online for a while now, but you have to first connect using Game Ranger. After you've connected using Game Ranger, you may be able to go back out of the room and select the LAN option from there (if it's still there of course). Note that you can add a password on GameRanger do that only certain people can access the game lobby - however, the actual connections made to each other have to be through GameRanger. Once that is done, Stronghold 2 will automatically be started, and it should load straight into a lobby room. If the LAN option is not there, it is no longer available and you only have the option of playing online.
