  1. "Very well. You shall have a small company of men under your command. Be part of our ranks, and help us train troops to a high level. Together, we can reclaim these lands for the Duke, and once he arrives we can rejoice once more!" The commander pointed to a servant who filled two glasses of wine, one given to Goodman and the other to the commander. "To good health, and the Duke!" They both clinked their glasses, and downed the wine. "Let us waste no time. We must get to work immediately! Constable Briggs here will see to it you get an appropriate uniform fitted." Both the constable and Goodman headed to the left exit. "Is there anything else you wish to ask of me?" [OOC] Bet you weren't expecting that to come out from him! :D
  2. "How can we be sure that you mean what you say, and are not trying to deceive us? Which is exactly what you originally did. Both when first arriving, and when questioned. Why should we trust you?" The commander looked at Goodman, clearly undecided about what to do with him, waiting for a reply while the commanders murmured in agreement.
  3. The commander looked like he was about to speak, when several heavily armoured guards flooded the exits and Goodman realised he was surrounded. With them, was the guard who had earlier fled the scene. He had not fled out of cowardness, but to get backup. "We now have the situation under control men. If we need you once more, you shall be called. Back to training!" ordered the senior Constable. A few of the troops started murmuring on the way out, but before long they were gone. Now the commander finally spoke once more. "There is nothing to fear, unless you have nothing to hide." he remarked. "My men shall stay next to me, but shall not attack you unless you do the same. And do not try to escape, for we have guards at every exit." Both Constables moved over to the commander, on the way one picking up the sword which Goodman had thrown on the floor. "Now. How can you be of service to us?"
  4. "I will talk only when you have been disarmed." replied the commander dryly. "Drop your weapon. And then, I will consider standing my men down." The constables remained as they were, as if expecting a sudden attack from Goodman.
  5. You can post an application at any time. But it's up to @Charles of Tours as to when you can join in the adventure.

  7. The commander dodged the blade as Goodman swiped it towards him, then backed off to the other end of the room. "Let's .. just .. . everyone calm down a bit" said the commander anxiously. After seeing what Goodman could do while in irons, he did not want to see what he was capable of with a sword as well. The two Constables in the room, one behind Goodman who escorted him in, and the other now near the commander, grabbed their swords and prepared to attack him on any move of hostility. And defend their commander to the death. "Now, let's just get this straight. There .. is is no need for violence. " the commander stuttered, distressed at the thought of Goodman roaming free with a weapon. "First of all- why did you kill my men". Little did Goodman notice one of the two constable left in the tent had fled from the scene.
  8. "That is a lie!" the commander yelled bending down screeching in to Goodman's face. "This sword was responsible for killing several of my best commanders! I would recognise it from anywhere!" he continued to shout at Goodman, little did he know that it was not exactly the same as the sword he thought, but rather a replica used by the assassin who Goodman had earlier killed. "Clearly, moat does not work. Bring me the gallows!" the commander ordered to a nearby guard. It was very clear he mistook Goodman and the adventures for the assassin who had really killed his troops. "This is your last chance. I have more prisoners, but you only have one life!"
  9. "Stop now. I think he is ready to talk." ordered the commander to the nearby soldier. "After a few moments the commander sat back dow giving Gooman the chance to catch his breath. "Well?" the commander asked. "And before you give us more lies, think again. For we can do much worse than put you in moat water." The commander stopped. "We want only the truth. What, is your business in these lands?" Demanded the commander. [OOC] Ha, I decided to make it worse than originally intended. Glad you enjoyed being smothered in moat water! :D
  10. After Goodman refuses to answer, the leader signals to the soldier with the barrel, and at that moment the barrel is placed onto the floor next to the table where Goodman is standing. Goodman is dragged over to the barrel where his head is forced under the water in there. But this is no ordinary water, but the water from the nearby moat. After several seconds, the leading commander signals for his head to be removed. A coughing and spluttering Goodman emerges from the water. After several seconds, when he realises nothing will come from him, he signals for the same thing to happen again. [OOC] That does sound really similar, and interesting, I'll have to watch that at some point :)
  11. [OOC] No, I've never seen that actually. I just made it up on the spot - just like everything else I've done here. Which is why this adventure always looks like it's about to go in one direction then goes into another. :)
  12. "This sounds like a very interesting story." He remarked sarcastically. Then stood up and moved to the left hand side of the table, his hands behind his back, looking away from Goodman. He clicked his fingers, and a guard walked in with a barrel full of water and stood to the right of Goodman. "But, I have a feeling, you'd rather tell me the truth." he slowly uttered, turning to face Goodman.
  13. "Follow us, and stop wasting our time", ordered the commander. He had grown tired of listening to them and their excuses. Goodman followed the commander out of the room and the door was shut back on the others once more. "Put him in irons" told the commander to a nearby junior officer, who went away and returned a few moments later and shackled Goodman's wrists in chains. They then moved up a newly created path towards some tents, which were not there the previous night. Smaller infantry tents were at each side of the path. While walking past Goodman observed various pieces of siege equipment, from mangonels, to trebuchets, from trebuchets to siege towers and ballistae. One looking very similar to the Scorpion catapult. The forest was still around them, but they now walked into a clearing, which contained a larger tent and several guards on the outposts. It was becoming clearer by the second this was no permanent troop station, but a temporary camp. They weaved in and out of a few fences and then arrived at the foot of a large tent. "In here" the commander told Goodman, before pushing him into the tent and Goodman falling to his knees. Almost instantly, a tremendous commotion came upon Goodman. "No! No we can't do that- it will ..." "But then it will expose the ..." One of the senior officers banged his fist on the table. "Enough, Gerald. We simply CANNOT deploy the forces to the ...". He turned and looked at Goodman, both in surprise and disgust. Almost at once the noise of arguing commanders subsided until the tent became bone-chillingly silent. When finally having the courage to look up, Goodman noticed another commander was sitting on a throne shaped chair at the opposite end of the tent, past the table of arguing commanders. It was instantly clear he was the leading figure. "What was he doing?" the leader asked, in a loud voice from the other side of the tent. "He was caught with the wagon, sir." replied the commander next to Goodman. The senior commander paused for a second. "To the rest of you, leave this tent for the moment. We need to speak in private." The remaining commanders picked up several pieces of parchment in a hussle and turned at once to leave, but a moment later he spoke again. "Not you, Constable Briggs". One of the officers stayed behind while the others left through another exit to the left. "Bring him forward" the commander stated. "So, you were caught with the wagon. " began the leading commander slowly, while Constable Briggs turned his back and walked off behind the throne to the left of a large screen. He picked up two items and headed back. "Perhaps, you might like to explain why a merchant should be carrying these" the commander replied, as the Constable placed a large sword on the table, along with some blood-stained cloths, evidently clear it was from the dead body Goodman removed earlier, and his own sword.
  14. I'm unable to use the workshop and many other steam features, such as friends, because I haven't directly purchased a game through the Steam website. However, people can still add me. My username is shnlordchris if you'd like to add me.
  15. Email notifications aren't using any resource usage really, they're not at all a problem to send out. I tell you what I'll do. I'll remove the rating system as it is, and change it to where you click the amount of stars you want. That way, we may get more ratings for more files. But I'll only allow users who are logged in to rate. I'll keep the comment system, but purely make it a simple comment system.
  16. While I'm busy refining the download section, I'm wondering whether to remove the comment system, most of the files that have discussion have threads here anyway, and you would be able to rate a download without writing a comment. In my opinion, all it's doing is slowing the page down, but I'd like to hear what other members of the community think before just removing it. So, what is everyone else's opinion about removing the comment system and just have a simple rate system like the articles, if help topics are needed they can be made here?
  17. "You can be the one to re-fill it." Replied the obstinate commander. "Under supervision." He had taken a particular dislike to the group of adventurers, and was going out of his way to intentionally make it difficult for them. "So, who is in charge here? We wish to speak with your commander."
  18. I'll take a look into this, maybe there is some underlying issue that may be present. I'm aware of the emoticon bug, where you can't post images into the editor because the http:// will think :/ is part of an emoticon. Maybe there's another reason similar.
  19. Just then the door opened, and one of the guard commanders walked in. "Which one of you is in charge here?" he abruptly asked. "There are things we must discuss, one of them being the contents of your wagon." There were two Pikemen either side of him, and slightly further behind - as well as more soldiers outside, in case of a sudden attack against them. It was instantly clear these were no mercenaries, but professional soldiers. They turned and looked at each of the adventurers in turn, before noticing the hole which Sir Lloyd made. "What, is that?" The commander demanded, now looking at a rather distressed Sir Lloyd. [OOC] I can't really describe the Constable or soldiers very well, but assume they look something similar to this. Just ignore the slight age difference :P
  20. It's a side effect from the rewritten URLs. I've fixed this - thanks.
  21. Yes. It uses language packs so you can choose which language you want in your profile. Though it only has support for English at the moment, the other Developer is currently doing a French language pack. When they're released, we'll include them in the forum as well which means you can use whatever language you like :) There are some language packs you can download from FluxBB which are similar, but they need to be tweaked a lot to be used with it.
  22. Welcome to the site! :) If you're interested in history, we have the perfect thread for you. @Crusader1307 has an outstandingly good History Thread, which you may be interested in reading. Some of the facts really are incredible!
  23. Okay, I'm getting this this morning. Not quite sure what was up there, as it was loading just fine yesterday. Maybe caching, I don't know. I've added a note in the development forum to chase this up in the next release and fixed it on this forum. Hi @Isaiah! Yes, Panther is my own forum software. :) It's open source so anyone can download it from the downloads page.
  24. I've fixed this, as @Charles of Tours has confirmed.
  25. I wouldn't generally have thought that RAM would have much to do with this, but it may. Java is not JavaScript, so that shouldn't make a difference. In regards to the database error, do you only get this when viewing new posts, and not for example by clicking on the CivCity Rome forum?
