Well - it's wonderful to hear such a positive message! At least I know I'm doing something right then! :cool: I couldn't have done any of it without all your help though - you're the people who bring the site alive, day and night. Monitor resolutions (or screen resolutions for that matter) can often make a game crash, they've done it many a time with SH1 that I've seen on the firefly forum, maybe @Nigel could be on to something there. I've had one crash, which was today - after the end of testing @Micha!'s map. So if crashes are re-occurring, it's because of one of three things: hardware incompatibility game instability Something has been altered somewhere - just like the save-to-map trick corrupted files in Stronghold 2 which often caused a lot of crashes, something must be altered. I'm not sure whether steam modified the registry, if so it may be worthwhile taking a look only to see if anything has happened there. We could test the hardware compatibility issue by changing things such as your monitor resolution. The other two aren't really in our control.

Have you tried to verify your steam cache as @Charles of Tours mentioned? This may help with any corrupt or missing files, and if it's happening a lot I'd say this is likely the case somehow. Apart from the fact you mention it happens a lot, can you tie it down to any specifics? I.E. Whenever you play a custom map, or whenever you build a church.etc Legends used to (and still does) freeze crash the game when the guard button is pressed during multiplayer, maybe a similar bug lives inside SHC2 yet to be found. Looking at your specs I'd say I doubt it's a hardware compatibility issue.

The convenient thing about Google + for me, is that it's connected directly to my personal email, and I'm always logged into that so I don't have to re-log in to post anything (the laziness of it :D ) There will be a couple of days toward the end of the month where we will need to use something, I'll see how that goes and change depending on how easy it goes with passing on info - don't forget we have a Facebook account also though.

If it's the main members group colour that's the problem, then I'll try to find a slightly better colour for it. I have tried in the past with yellow before the ranks system came into place, maybe it was the shade of yellow I tried, but it wasn't very good on your eyes - in fact that was the same reason the contributors group colour was also changed to what @EaglePrince has now. EDIT: Probably just realised that you meant pages such as this one: http://www.stronghold-nation.com/games/stronghold-1/ as it is pretty hard to read. Thanks for the heads-up, I'll try to find a better colour for that. If anyone has any other shades of colours in mind please let me know :)

The game is made with a different engine - just like SH3, it's a pre-built one (I think) so there may not be much choice in the actual game options.

Wow, it really seems like this thing is quite troublesome, what OS do you have ? If it's different to [user]lord vetka] then is it really that likely to be in the same place? Just thinking also, could you have deleted the (un)installer at some point? I know this is probably going to the extreme now, but...

Based on a lot of recent submitted maps, we are changing the way they are assessed before being approved. Now somewhat similar to driving tests, the maps will be assessed using majors and minors. Three minors create a major and one major means the map fails. We are hoping by releasing the list of how the maps are assessed, it may help a few more to make the pass mark, they are shown below: Majors Whether the file is related squareness of the map. Example Whether the map works Unfinished/incomplete maps Non-working Win/lose conditions Minors Bugs on certain versions (i.e. backwards incompatibility on SH2) Badly detailed terrain, repetitive terrain or not detailed at all Very hard to get started playing (i.e. bad economy, lack of space or available resources) Any lag present in the game (i.e. from animals) Non-working/half-working invasions Poorly thought out building layouts The files that get through are the good ones, we find ourselves receiving more and more poor files, and the majority of maps rejected are due to being square. Please do not upload a map that is square - it will be rejected. We really can't make this much clearer - it even states it on the page you choose the download category in bold.

Version 1.4 is unstable - you should either use 1.3.1 (which I believe the map was created on, @Lord Vetka will correct me if I'm wrong) or 1.4.1, both patches can be found in our downloads section.

This depends on how slow other people's internet connections are (and several similar factors such as how far away you all are) - In that time, it's telling the other games in the chain that the game has ended.

Not at all - just you have mentioned about it a few times. I know you don't mean any harm, and do mean to help users but it does get a bit troublesome when you offer to give them game files, installs.etc as it is technically illegal. Now lets get back to helping @Lord Vetka :) Are you viewing hidden files? If you're not, it may be a good move turning it on in case the installer is hidden somehow. I also believe that hidden files don't show up in searches, so that could be part of the reason.

It's likely hardware compatibility issues. Are all your drivers up to date?

It's fine if you check your PC and see if it's in the same place on his, the only thing that's not fine is when you give your files to him - or use illegal means. What you did or used to do really is irrelevant, and that wasn't on this site. You do know about the strong stance we have on piracy as I've had multiple conversations to you about it before - please do not persist in posting in support of piracy and against the terms of use of the game. That's still against the terms of use of the game, as such I ask you do not persist in posting such things here. You are welcome to PM me to discuss this further, but the decision won't be changed.

Very glad to have you on the site @Achilleslastand! We've only just recently started playing online, it's great fun. We often hold multiplayer events, if you ever feel like one you can create it in this forum - sounds like we have another power player ;)

Please be cognizant of the rules regarding piracy and not giving game files to people - it's also against the terms of use of the game.
