  1. Based on a lot of recent submitted maps, we are changing the way they are assessed before being approved. Now somewhat similar to driving tests, the maps will be assessed using majors and minors. Three minors create a major and one major means the map fails. We are hoping by releasing the list of how the maps are assessed, it may help a few more to make the pass mark, they are shown below: Majors Whether the file is related squareness of the map. Example Whether the map works Unfinished/incomplete maps Non-working Win/lose conditions Minors Bugs on certain versions (i.e. backwards incompatibility on SH2) Badly detailed terrain, repetitive terrain or not detailed at all Very hard to get started playing (i.e. bad economy, lack of space or available resources) Any lag present in the game (i.e. from animals) Non-working/half-working invasions Poorly thought out building layouts The files that get through are the good ones, we find ourselves receiving more and more poor files, and the majority of maps rejected are due to being square. Please do not upload a map that is square - it will be rejected. We really can't make this much clearer - it even states it on the page you choose the download category in bold.
  2. Version 1.4 is unstable - you should either use 1.3.1 (which I believe the map was created on, @Lord Vetka will correct me if I'm wrong) or 1.4.1, both patches can be found in our downloads section.
  3. This depends on how slow other people's internet connections are (and several similar factors such as how far away you all are) - In that time, it's telling the other games in the chain that the game has ended.
  4. Not at all - just you have mentioned about it a few times. I know you don't mean any harm, and do mean to help users but it does get a bit troublesome when you offer to give them game files, installs.etc as it is technically illegal. Now lets get back to helping @Lord Vetka :) Are you viewing hidden files? If you're not, it may be a good move turning it on in case the installer is hidden somehow. I also believe that hidden files don't show up in searches, so that could be part of the reason.
  5. It's likely hardware compatibility issues. Are all your drivers up to date?
  6. It's fine if you check your PC and see if it's in the same place on his, the only thing that's not fine is when you give your files to him - or use illegal means. What you did or used to do really is irrelevant, and that wasn't on this site. You do know about the strong stance we have on piracy as I've had multiple conversations to you about it before - please do not persist in posting in support of piracy and against the terms of use of the game. That's still against the terms of use of the game, as such I ask you do not persist in posting such things here. You are welcome to PM me to discuss this further, but the decision won't be changed.
  7. Very glad to have you on the site @Achilleslastand! We've only just recently started playing online, it's great fun. We often hold multiplayer events, if you ever feel like one you can create it in this forum - sounds like we have another power player ;)
  8. Please be cognizant of the rules regarding piracy and not giving game files to people - it's also against the terms of use of the game.
  9. No problem - that's what this forum is here for, helping people with issues on the site ;)
  10. Wow! I've never seen someone know so many languages - that's pretty impressive ;)
  11. Yes, as stated by the message you got when the upload was complete, the file needs checking first by a moderator. I can see it in the download queue waiting to be approved but am rather busy at the moment, thus am unable to check it today - maybe another staff member could check it today, otherwise it may not get approved until tomorrow at some point. Here's the message again in case you'd like to see it:
  12. Thanks for that tip - I've added it to the article :)
  13. Added to the list :) I also think that you shouldn't build a siege camp close to enemy units so I've added that to the list.
  14. This is a note for anyone now wanting to use the 'my files' update link: This is now fixed.
  15. How about no intentional, consistent use of burning carts? That would allow a one-off maybe, as I do feel it's not something we shouldn't completely stop but can be unfair at the same time. See the difference is, I'm picturing it as being you attack, and the enemy ambushes you with burning carts on the way to their castle. But if you go into the enemy castle with burning carts then that could be unfair. Which scenario exactly are you referring to?
  16. Really? I can't remember where I got it from, but that clearly demonstrates my lack of knowledge in SHC. I'd created a new category in the SH1 section called "Miscellaneous" and moved it there, thanks for that. :)
  17. If I'm not mistaken, the 1.2 patch is in our downloads section, I think I uploaded that so you should be able to manually patch it no problem. You're fairly familiar with the registry, have you tried removing the data from there associated with SHC, copying the game files to another location as a backup and then attempting a clean install?
  18. Interesting, I hate having the grid on, I much prefer just looking at the map. Maybe I should try it sometime.
  19. That sounds great @EaglePrince, I like the idea of templates - PM me with what you have in mind and we'll talk a bit more about that. You can use the different game view modes at the below link, these allow you to view the game in different ways, which may answer your question. http://www.stronghold-nation.com/article/64-game-views Well, EalgePrince is once again, our Winner! Congratulations EaglePrince!
  20. That should be added. I've seen people do that before and it's not fair at all. Blocking passages to the village by placing buildings is ok, but blocking the flag pole in the center isn't. Added to the list. Maybe putting a limit on would be better than banning it altogether, it's a strategy of killing opponents - not really cheating, as you've mentioned. How many would you say we should limit it to?
  21. Burning carts are just a strategy that players can use, I don't really believe that there is anything unfair about them, like Assassins for example - providing they're not in mass of course.
  22. Psst! Beheading them wastes good torturers! They could be used for armourers instead :D
  23. Yes, that's a bug. I have no idea why, clearly it's a fault with Safari somehow. The OP now reports this problem fixed. Closed.
  24. It may only have done something for @Mathew Steel if he enabled the final thing, I'm not sure whether he did do that in the end. But those errors are pretty self-explanatory, I was expecting something much more obscure than that. The actual error dumps will likely have the date in, in some kind of format, most likely as in dd-mm-yy (or another way with dashes). If they're not somewhere in the my documents folder, I'd try looking in your program files steam folder.
  25. I'm looking forward to seeing this set-in-stone now, it's looking good! :)
