It seems like we have that same dream... :)

That is great to hear! In that case I do hope that they will be able to patch Stronghold 3 some more to make things better. I believe the only difference between those two is the fact that in Crusader 2 they brought back the grid, and buildings ca be rotated in only four directions like in Stronghold 2.
-
Too bad to hear that. I believe many others would be playing it as well. Stronghold 3 is indeed a special Stronghold game - just when you look at it, you can see how different it is compared to other Stronghold games. I don't know what are Firefly's plans after Stronghold Crusader 2, but it would be great indeed if they came back to Stronghold 3, just like that went back to Stronghold and Stronghold Crusader to make the HD patches. Unfortunately I do realize it is not so likely that they would come back to Stronghold 3 now; but on the other hand, Stronghold 3 and Stronghold Crusader 2 have similar engines (if I am right?), so it should be easier to them to fix some things in Stronghold 3 after their experiences with Stronghold Crusader 2.

Do you know if we can save the game in multiplayer, and load it if the game crashes? I do know the autosave has been disabled by Firefly, but the host could save the game manually now and then though...

This is a fine review. Sorry I haven't commented anything until now, but I have read the review, and I did consider it before buying the game myself. I only meant to tell few more things. Troops: I also like how they made some troops to have some new abilities. For example, spearmen are in Stronghold 3 called men at arms, and they are able to through their spear. In earlier Stronghold games they are pretty much useless, and that is not the case here. Tutorial: I agree that tutorial tell very little, but one can find out a lot more by playing economic campaign. I believe that Firefly meant to make it this way - the economic campaign is in some way an advanced tutorial as well - with difference that it doesn't tell you what exactly to do. It guides you, while you have to figure some little details by yourself. Would I recommend it: If you are a fan of the Stronghold series, yes. If not, I would tell you try Stronghold Crusader and Stronghold 2 first. If you one liked those two, than there are good chances that you will like Stronghold 3 as well, but you may miss some features. PS: I hope we could try a multiplayer game some day, Mathew. :) If you decide to make a gaming event for Stronghold 3 I would definitely join.

Hey, guys. I can see that very little people write about Stronghold 3, although I do believe it does deserve some more attention. Also, many of them have the opinion that Stronghold 3 is simply a bad game, and since I believe it's not true, I decided to write this review. I have also read the review of Mathew Steel. I agree with his review, and I shall comment there about some things he said, to tell what else I think about the matter.

You can make the in-game screenshot by pressing PRINT SCREEN (while in the game), and than you minimize the game and open Paint, and press CTRL+P to paste the image. Then you save the image. Those who have Steam version could press F12 to make a screenshot. Nevertheless, we do know what Hades terrain, but we wanted to see your map, so we could see something about your problem. -

You can do both, although the map provides more information to us. :) -

I agree with Chris, feel free to attack the file here, so we could see it by ourselves. :) -
No problem. Another guy also joined the room, so we were able to play 2 vs 2 game, and it was quite fun. I hope you will make it to come next time though. :)

I did assume that, but I wasn't quite sure what you were thinking under "Hades terrain", but than I got it. You can make it by placing ocean, and than over that ocean you need to put grass. Also, I believe that Hades terrain and beach are same level in fact - at least it has always seemed to me like that. Also, I should tell that I found what Hades terrain is by looking at War of the deserts map. Surajsubba also gave there his answer of how to create the terrain. -

Hmm, that sounds interesting! Fighting against AI opponent using siege towers. I hope I will play that scenario some time soon. :) -

That is an interesting document indeed - I downloaded it with pleasure. :) Thanks for that, Chris! -
I decided to write few interesting things about this game. I have recently bought it, and after playing it for a while I can say that my impression is that I believe Stronghold 3's reputation is not entirely justified. I agree, it does have some bugs, such as your or enemy soldiers being stuck at some places, but there are similar things in Crusader 1 as well! We all know how it can happen pretty often for our archers in Crusader 1 to get stuck at one peace of crenelation of the wall, after what we would need to remove the crenelation to free the unlucky archer. So, back to my point. :) I was playing those economy and military campaigns - the economic campaign I won with no difficulties, while if you ask me about military campaigns, I'm still fighting my battles there. Right now I am trying to win mission 8: The Sultan mission - it is a tricky one, and one can really easily lose all of his men under those walls. Before that mission, while I was fighting mission 7 Rat in the Night, I did see something that really surprised me! Stronghold 3 DOES have fog of the war that many players were asking about. The thing is that if you set it to night, than you can see only what is near your buildings and near your men. Besides that, you can put some hay bale throwers on your engine towers, and they can be used so you could see what is happening around your castle - you are able to aim with those wherever you want, but within their range, and this way you can set light to area you want. This is one screenshot. :) By the way, it is a pity that Firefly gave up those engine towers, they would be way better in Crusader 2 than those wooden structures. ADDITION: Right now I am assuming that it should be possible to make scenarios within which one would have to fight during the night, which you make a lot of that way harder. Is that possible? Also, I am almost sure that it is not possible to change the time of the day in multiplayer lobby, so, could that be possible in map editor - if it is possible, that one should be able to make a multiplayer map with fog of war as well (it would be night on the map)?
-
Speaking about the fog, I assumed it is not possible to remove it, or anything like that, but I also concluded that one shouldn't worry about that in fact. Besides that., few more good things came out of this tread, such as those good looking screenshots - one you can see here, and others are in the gallery. :)
-
Hmm, now I got it! :D It is Sunday the 16th, only in description it is "September 20", which is copied from an older gaming event. :) Indeed - I confused myself. :)
-
I am sorry, it appears I wasn't paying attention much. I assumed that this gaming event is being scheduled for this Sunday. I am unsure if I am going to be able to come home until 19:00 by Central European timezone, but I hope I should find it out tomorrow, and I am going to let you know a about it. I still hope I should be able to come and play. :)
-
That's right, so you said before. That's great. thanks you! :) I shall also submit a screenshot of the entire castle. ADDITION: So, this is my mighty castle! :) It looks pretty good with the fog as well though... In fact, this time with the fog it might be looking even better.
-
I'd say the quality isn't sacrificed. I am doing it that way now. I shall upload my first image again then, and I would like to ask you, if you could not approve the first one then. :)
-
I have noticed now those are 1.5-2 MB PNG images... Should I convert them to JPG? I think this might be unnecessary question, and the answer is obviously YES? :)
-
Sure, I was doing just the same thing right now. :D I shall upload some of them now. :) I played a free build game, and I was making some nice screenshots. :) ADDITION: I hope you are able to see those screenshots at Steam? http://steamcommunity.com/id/eagleprince/screenshots/ That was the easiest way to upload them quickly, but I will upload them to SHN Gallery as well right now.
-
Hi, I meant to ask you guys, if you know anything about the fog in Stronghold 3? Is there a way to remove it, or if there is a way to reduce the fog. The fog I am speaking about is visible when I zoom out as much as I can, or when I play around with free camera. I am posting few screenshots I found on internet to show you what I mean. This is a screenshot without the fog, ad this is where I found it. On the other hand, here is a screenshot with the fog. This is where I found this one.

That's great to hear, xiiMaRcLeoN, I hope to see on the battle field! :)
