Hi, I saw that in Stronghold 3 one is limited to 125 buildings only, which is very small number considering that gatehouses, towers, etc. are counted there as well. Is there a way to enlarge that number? Is there some modification, or something? Also, if this game was possible to become unstable with more buildings, I guess enlarging that number to at least 175 could be enough, and that it wouldn't make any harm.

I agree that there is nothing unfair about burning charts themselves. But my opponent was using them in large numbers against my troops - not against my buildings. For example, I would send my men to attack him, and than he would just build a siege camp relatively close to my men, and make large number of burning charts. Then he would send those on my man and burn entire area around them, even though there was nothing to be burned - only some green grass. :what: This is something that none of you guys did to me in our multiplayer games. Also, I cannot say this is much unfair, as others are able to do the same, but this is just not natural. I could demonstrate you in some multiplayer game, or I could post a screenshot. The thing is that one is able to build a siege camp, and to make up to 24 burning charts and send those on enemy troops. Perhaps that wouldn't be such a problem if one wouldn't be able to make 24 burning charts away from his castle. There is also one more thing that this guy was doing. He was buildings three stockpiles and an armory around villages campfire, and he was putting a knight inside. This way he was securing his village, so one wouldn't be able to reach the knight easily, kill him, and take over the village. Again - there is nothing unfair when someone uses those because this is not cheating - other can do the same as well, but in my opinion we should not be doing those things. Just like I don't like using portable shields in Stronghold Crusader because it provides too much protection - even more protection that tower with a hoarding. :what: I'd also like to say that it was a good fight, and it was quite interesting. Still, I ended that game in one suicidal attack because the opponent was way stronger (his nickname is RAID, by the way), and he wasn't attacking me at all. Also, it was getting pretty late. Only I was attacking him, but he was like a cat playing with a mouse. :D If he wanted, he would have killed me easily inside my own castle as well.

I have recently played a game, and I have faced some stuff which might be added to our rules. The most important one - using burning charts to make fire in some area around enemy army, thus burning them. I believe this could be unpleasant to the opponent which expects a fierce fight - they want to die from swords, not from burning charts which showed up almost from nowhere. :)

Hmm, I like your idea! :D

Hmm, option to banish criminals... That is a nice idea indeed. :) Although my favorite method was to behead the criminal - no one steals my food and gold. :D

Yes, that's how I got it as well. :)

Well, speaking of Steam - I do have some feeling that they have achieved what they wanted. Many games are not possible to play if they are on Steam, and if one doesn't own an original copy. It is harder now than before Steam... I mean, I've always believed that one has to own an original copy to play it, but I recently found out I was wrong, and I was really surprised. Still, they are doing way more than protecting themselves. Maybe I'm paranoid about that at this moment, but I feel really uncomfortable when buying games now, as I have feeling that I am renting them only (if the game is on Steam). Even though you payed the game, you have to obey some rules that had made up, and I cannot do with my game what I want... (of course - I don't mean about distributing the game or something, I'm speaking about some other banal stuff) Also, there is another thing - now one is able to get the game he wants no matter if the game is popular in his country or not. One doesn't have to search for the game he loves. What I just wrote could seam a bit confusing - on one hand I defend Steam, and on the other hand, I say what they do is wrong. My feeling are somewhat mixed right now, but I hope this would sum up how I feel right now: it is a nice idea to have a service to get some game that is harder to get in Store, but I don't like Steams ways. For example, I made a Steam account to write some friendly posts their at their discussions, and after some short time I became unable to write in any specific game discussions. What they want from me is to buy a game on Steam, or to link a game I own to Steam. They say how that is because of spamming, but we all know that is not the only way to prevent spam. Besides that, there are some stupid topics at Steam Discussions, and I have noticed that there are some members who start some topics which could offend someone, but who cares - they gave the money. Also, I must say that I am not so certain if I am right about everything I told about Steam, but that is how I feel.

Thanks, Nigel, I am glad you like my signature. :) By the way, some time ago I came to an idea of making a pattern for making Stronghold Nation banners. I would make it for GIMP as it is free. The idea would be for all of us to be able to have some nice signatures, and all the signatures would have something in common. We could have the same frame for example. So, if that would be the case, I would make the frame, and you would be able to make a screenshot (from Stronghold 2, Stronghold Legends, Stronghold 3, or Stronghold Crusader 2), and put it behind the frame; and you would also be able easily to put your username in your desired font. I could make a small inscription "Stronghold Nation" at some part of it. Of course, in that case you would provide you two frames - one with the inscription, and one without it. You would be able to use it on other forums as well, such as Stronghold Crusader 2 forum. Also, is it possible to freely rotate camera in all possible directions at least in map editor? I know there is no free camera mod while playing the game, but is it possible at least in map editor? It would be really nice if they made this possible like they did in Stronghold 2 - that is a nice option for making some nice screenshots of our army, castles, landscapes, etc... even videos! Now when I mentioned it - is there free camera mod in Stronghold Legends and Stronghold 3? It seems it is possible by pressing ALT+"F". I found that info at Firefly Worlds forum.

Stronghold 3 - current state: performance and multiplayer
EaglePrince replied to EaglePrince's topic in Stronghold 3
"Well you would have to persuade me to install it first, then we will see if I even want to play it, and lets see if there would be some time to play online, I would rather play more of the Extreme maps we played." So it would be harder than I thought... :) Just kidding now, but I do admit that I don't expect Stronghold 3 to be as much interesting as it is the case with Crusader, or Crusader Extreme, games. :) Right now, I was thinking about Stronghold 3 only because I saw a chance to get a boxed version of Stronghold 3 for less than 10 euro in my town, and because I realized my newer PC should be able to handle Stronghold 3 and Stronghold Crusader as well. One is sure - I wouldn't be giving more than 10 euro for Stronghold 3 in any moment. Thanks for your advice, I will listen to you. I mean, at this moment I did become a little impatient about this, and at such moments it is a nice thing to have someone to slow you down a little. -
Stronghold 3 - current state: performance and multiplayer
EaglePrince replied to EaglePrince's topic in Stronghold 3
Well, you are right about that, right now everyone is more into Crusader 2 right now, and it is less likely to find some players to play Stronghold 3 with. I did notice that - the game was released on October 25, 2011, while the latest patch was released on May 11, 2012. That's a lot of time, and even if they did the good job with those patches, many of them had already lost their patience for the game, I guess. Still, I did read some comments about that latest patch - how Firefly gave the game up, while there were still some stuff to fix. "I would suggest trying the new SHC2 while everyone else is trying it out, SH3 will still be there and will more than likely get even cheaper." Wise words from Lord Vetka. :) Now when you say it like that, you are right, and I should get Crusader 2 first. Speaking of Stronghold 3 and my question about it - now I think it would be worth buying, only I should prepare myself for not being able to find some players for online game. On the other hand, I do have you guys - I believe I could persuade some of you to play it with me. :) -
Yeah! :D Although I have to admit - I wouldn't have noticed it if Chris didn't mention water flow. Also, I have to say that it doesn't have to be an error. There are some example in nature where river changes its direction, and start flowing in opposite direction of the sea. We have Niger river for example. It's source is pretty close to see, but across those mountains, so it flows into the desert, and after a while it comes back into Atlantic ocean. This river was really interesting to me, when I was a kid because of this. Also, Danube in Romania - it flows directly into the Black sea, then it turn left (to the north), and than it turn to the east again, thus reaching the Black sea. These things can be unpredictable indeed. Speaking of our situation - for all we know, it is possible that the see is in the south, the east, and the north as well - just after the edge of the map. :) If I can choose, I think it would be in the mood for a Stronghold 2 map, but I believe that Chris and I should share the prize, as I wouldn't notice it without him mentioning the water flow. :)

Stronghold 3 - current state: performance and multiplayer
EaglePrince replied to EaglePrince's topic in Stronghold 3
Yes, I do realize that. I'll see about it, and if I get it, I would like to play a Stronghold 3 multiplayer game if the game wouldn't lag to me. Also, there is another thing - these days I have very little time, but now and then I could find some free time for that. Thanks for your help, Chris! If anyone else can tell something more, it would be more than welcome. :) -
Stronghold 3 - current state: performance and multiplayer
EaglePrince replied to EaglePrince's topic in Stronghold 3
That's nice to hear! Well, considering some features of the game, such as building walls in any direction, etc... it could be just the right game for those who want to build their village only. Can you tell anything about optimizing the game? Have they been doing anything about that? I admit, it's been several years now since the game was released, but maybe someone remembers if some later version was working smoother than the first release? -
Stronghold 3 - current state: performance and multiplayer
EaglePrince posted a topic in Stronghold 3
Hi, I have found out that I can get Stronghold 3 in my town - it would be a boxed version, and it's on an action, so it would be somewhat cheaper as well. I did try Stronghold 3 before, but I haven't owned my own copy yet, so I haven't tried the game after some later patches. I meant to ask you - did they improve the performance of the game by those later patches? Is the game better optimized than it was when it was released? I do realize it's been a while since the game came out, but I hope some of you guys remember. :) Also, the game doesn't have a skirmish, and people were making very little custom maps I think, and custom scenarios? For this reason I also meant to ask - are there some people that would play this game in multiplayer? I would need to know these stuff before buying, because if it isn't any better optimized, it could lag on my PC, and if no one would play it in multiplayer - there would be nothing I could do with it. :) I have noticed that there was no Stronghold 3 gaming event at Stronghold Nation. -
Hmm, is that the river flowing north, in opposite direction of sea? :)
-
I was looking a little bit at it, but I didn't find anything. I guess I should have looked a little bit more.

Great indeed! I have already subscribed myself for several categories. :) I also like how you made gallery now, it think it is way better! There is a small preview, short description, and one can download the image to see it in full size.

That is a great option as well. -

Today I was able to see the "new" tag for the new Crusader 2 map. :) -
Well, there are the ones I would mention. I don't play all of them, but I will mention those games I have spent the most time with, and those are the games I come back to now and then. Stronghold 1 Stronghold Crusader Stronghold 2 Empire Earth (1) Rise of Nations Age of Empires 3 Settlers; Path to a Kingdom Stronghold Crusader and Empire Earth are the games of my childhood. :)

Thanks for your reply as well. :) The more I hear - better! :) Yeah, I have already heard same stuff about AVG... Also, I did try to install it, and I did notice how resource demanding it was. :)

Great, so that's the same as I do. Thanks for all the advices, guys. :) ADDITION: Now I went to PayPal website. This is what one could see there: So, when someone pays using PayPal, he pays nothing for that service, while the one who is receiving the payment does? Is that the case? So, if I wanted to buy Stronghold Crusader 2 via PayPal, and it costs 34,99?, that's exactly how much I am going to pay? I pay no provision?
-
Thanks for your explanations guys. Yeah, I have already heard the same about PayPal - the recommended me in the bank already. I do know about the issue with having multiple antivirus programs. Because of that it is a good thing that many of those anti-malware tools offer real time protection as well (or at least I think that). Also, speaking about the website I could buy at - I should also pay attention if it doesn't seem vulnerable (if that would be even possible - so even better would be "don't buy stuff anywhere", and not to do it if you don't have to. :) ) Regarding MalwareBytesPro... I do use it now and then as well, only I don't keep it installed, to keep the PC working more optimal. Thanks for your advices guys. :) You both gave me a detailed answers on my question. :) ADDITION: Speaking of Malwarebytes Pro... I do have it, but it is MalwareBytes Anti-Malware (Free), and the only licenses offered are Free and Premium. Is it the free license you have, or there is a way to activate a Pro license another way?
