Island of Eskania
Lord_Chris replied to Nigel's topic in Multiplayer Gaming Community's Stronghold Crusader 2
It was an amazing game, and it worked very well - it would be fun to have another game similar sometime. Great write-up too! Not too much text and the screenshots perfectly illustrated the point. :) -
Your challenge is: Create the county of Mirkwood from The Lord of The Rings using the Stronghold 1 Editor. Users should ensure that the Castle of Dol Guldur is added to the map, and they must destroy it to win. You can use the following map for information on what to place where. The map can be any size, any type (though we recommend landscape) and any other means necessary! If no entry is attached (via .zip. then your entry will not be counted! The results will be revealed on Sunday. Good luck everyone!

Are there any translation files in either of the zip files you sent? I can't exactly see any, what is it you'd like translating? -
Pinned.

Adventure #01 - A Duke in Distress
Lord_Chris replied to Charles of Tours's topic in Adventures in the Duchy of Riverbourne
Suddenly a nearby door could be heard creaking in the distance, and footsteps could be heard. A few seconds later a cloaked figure enters the room. The others instantly kneel before him. "Has the plan of attack been executed?" "Yes, my lord. The Duke is exactly where we want him to be. " replies the second. "It is as you foretold, your highness. Everything is coming true that was in the prophecy." replied another. "Good ... good." he commemorated. "Soon, The Duke will learn who his allies, and who his foes really are ...." -
That's a shame - but there is still time yet to get something done. Something is better than nothing! ;)

I'm downloading your files now, but I might not have time to do them all today. There are a lot :D -

This week we'll draw a random person who completed the challenge and they'll receive a custom title on the forum! Your challenge for this week is: Create a replica of the original Crusader map "Desert Island Blues" in the Crusader 2 editor. The map should be a skirmish with spaces for eight players. This challenge notes your ability to pay attention to detail, copying the details from the original map. For those of you who do not have Stronghold Crusader, we have attached a zip full of screenshots you may use. You can use this and any other means necessary to complete the challenge! Thank you Nigel, the map has been approved! The points are as follows: @Nigel - 3 Feedback The map was very well constructed, and the landscape was very cleverly put together - I particularly like the waterfall and the water that can be walked over. The idea of having the iron transported over the water to your village is a really good idea. It was a very tough map with the starting number of troops which you received. It required you to use them very effectively and it took me several attempts to actually complete the mission. The landscaping was very well detailed and the numerous cliff heights looked very impressive. It was a very good map - congratulations on being entered into the draw!

I'll certainly give it a go, but I'm not sure how well I'll do. -

Lord_Chris replied to Tokamaps's topic in Stronghold 2
Hmm. For some reason my post has disappeared from here. Sorry for not replying too, email would be fine. You'll find it in my profile. -
How did you manage to change the firing speed? Even I have no idea how to do that.
-
Great news @Nigel! We're looking forward to see what you can come up with! It's explicitly the Stronghold 3 editor - while both editors are similar, if you check our editor guide (above) you'll find there are some major differences in them too.

Stronghold 2 incompatible with Windows 8/8.1 Fix
Lord_Chris replied to Lord_Chris's topic in Stronghold 2
It appears to randomly happen after playing the game, and mainly with the 1.4.1 version. Sometimes a crash seems like it causes it - others, unknown ... -
Your task for this week is: Create a fortress in the Stronghold 3 editor, along with some exciting river effects and a bandit camp. The map should be scripted so that the bandits attack and you must destroy the camp to win. Upload to our download section when completed. The map can be as simple as down to the very basic landscape with a keep marker and a outlaw camp - or you could ramp it up a bit and add a few additional extras! You can make any size of map, with any kind of landscape, and anything you see fit in-between! Useful resources http://www.stronghold-nation.com/article/225-stronghold-3-editor-overview Note: Your entry must be uploaded to our download central by (23/1/16 23:59). If no entry is uploaded (via .zip. then your entry will not be counted! The results will be revealed on Sunday. Good luck everyone!

It's disappointing there are no entries for this week. Perhaps there will be some more for next week's challenge.

Playtester(s) needed for "Islaza te a murtus" a prologue of a series
Lord_Chris replied to Tokamaps's topic in Stronghold 2
I should be able to make something like this for you no problem. Sorry for not replying to this by the way - I somehow seem to have missed it. What was the antivirus that you used called? And could you give the exact message? -
The deadline closes tonight everyone, and we still don't have any entries! Why not be the first to enter and safely guarantee yourself another place in the draw?
-
Let me know if you have any more problems then. :)

I'd choose MalwareBytes. It's more reliable, and it's one of the industry best at detecting and removing Malware. I use that on my PC, and I recommend it to everyone who asks me about help like this. I installed it on a PC yesterday and it detected 300+ threats that weren't detected by the previous program. This doesn't quite male sense, to me. What do you mean by "computer memory"? By this, I assume RAM, but from your definition it seems like you're referring to hard drive space. For this, I'm not sure exactly what can be done. If the game isn't laggy when you play single player than it's your internet speed to blame (or at least someone's). If it is laggy when you play single player, then your computer either doesn't meet the requirements to run (see here) or the game itself is laggy and only the developers (e.g. Firefly) will be able to fix it. For performance, I use CCleaner. I also regularly run Disk Cleanup as well as Defragmentation tools. You can also run these things on a regular basis using the task scheduler. There are many things that will have similar advantages. I'm a big fan of classic shell - I use that for my Windows 8. I disabled the charms menu on the right of the screen too.

Did you try reading the resources provided above? These should give you some understanding of how to modify the DDS files as well as some background information on them.

The points are as follows: @Nigel - 2 @Tokamaps - 3 As with every week - you'll get feedback on how you scored as you did, so I'll give that now. Feedback @Nigel - your map was a very nice little scenario. Although it isn't very long, it was a nice quick scenario to play for a bit of fun. I liked the idea of having to break into an estate to take it over, to invade again. The troop choice was very good, and you were very tied with numbers. The landscaping was very nice, and you put a lot of effort into smaller details such as shrubs and bears (which was noticed!). The description has a good level of detail too. To get three points though, the scenario requires a very good level of depth, and precision, and this was where it didn't score as well :( Not that I'm trying to be critical about it, just informative. @Tokamaps - Not only have you done a small invasion but you have incorporated it into a fully-fledged war scenario! This is very impressive indeed. You show a great understanding of how castles work, and this is demonstrated very greatly throughout the map by the defensive and strategic positions provided. The extra events that come with the map are very impressive too. The landscaping, scripted events and all the invasion was above the standard we asked. The invasions on this map are what I call "professional" invasions - invasion forces that come with siege equipment, and in a large number. This takes a lot to beat. Therefore, I am delighted to announce that the very first winner of 25 Weeks of Stronghold is ! You have been added to the prize draw, congratulations! A big thank you is in order to both of our competitors and we hope to see you joining in again this week! We're sorry to see fail session] accidently make the map for the wrong game - we hope we can see you again soon too!
