Hi @blackperils, welcome to StrongholdNation! A lot of the code in the earlier games is compiled and thus unfortunately cannot be reversed back into a readable state again. However, that's not to say you can't still modify things. Is there anything specific you'd like to modify? It's certainly quite plausible still that you can modify things, it just depends on exactly what you'd like to modify and how.

Hi @taker1, welcome to StrongholdNation! Does this happen on any other graphics level? It sounds to me like it could be that you're trying to run the game on a graphics level which is too high for your PC which is causing performance issues. It may be possible to play around with your graphics settings to fix this but it's not guaranteed. As @kian suggests, can you post some more detail on your PC specifications for us?

Thanks guys. I'll look into this.

Stronghold Europe needs playtesters!

Hi @CyberCorpse Thanks very much for your topic and making your campaigns, however the image which you have uploaded has been flagged by MalwareBytes Anti-Malware as malicious- for this reason I've removed it from your forum post. While I have no doubt it is not the image itself which is malicious, it is in fact the entire domain which is being flagged and we cannot have links to (or embedded content of any kind) from domains which are associated with this kind of malware on the forum unfortunately. Could you please upload your image on a new image hosting website and re-post it in the thread? -
Yes.. that is another possibility where an entire map file can become corrupted... if that does happen, unfortunately there's just nothing you can do. You'll have to re-create the entire map. Don't open it again too because it'll mean you need to restart your game to see the terrain normal again. From my experience however, this is very rare.
-
Yeah this happens sometimes. I have no idea what causes it but it's incredibly infuriating. I've found that restarting the game fixes this. If that doesn't work deleting the cliff of whatever caused this issue and then restarting the game fixes it. Either way, a restart usually fixes it eventually.

Hi @erniewanida, welcome to the site! What version of Stronghold Crusader 2 are you running? Also have you tried verifying the integrity of your game cache? To do this, go to your Steam games library. Right click on the title of Crusader 2, then click "Properties" on the pop-up panel. A new window with several tabs should appear. Click "Local Files" then "Verify integrity of game cache." This should scan, repair, and (if needed) replace all files associated with the game.

Ok- I'll try to take a look at this tomorrow. We have a few files in the queue that need approving.
-
So that I remove the correct file- your submission number is #550, correct?
-
I'd say 1.5 as even if they were created beforehand, it's still been released with them. I think that makes more sense.
-
Yes- please do submit this pack to our downloads section! It would be incredibly beneficial to have these maps uploaded here. :) I am pleased to announce that they do appear to work on the 1.4.1 version. Though whether if anyone uses any of the new textures within the game they still work is a question yet to be answered. I've already gone ahead and added a new game version in the downloads for Stronghold 2 for 1.5 as well. I have noticed that on a press release Firefly wrote this: Has anyone been able to try this yet and worked out how it is done?
-
What category would you like it as?
-
I've had a good look and I can only find two explanations for the error you're getting, the first of which is that you're not selecting which game to submit your file for before pressing the "Continue" button at the end of that page I linked to above. The other explanation is that you're not currently logged in when you're trying to submit your file. Can you confirm or deny either of these statements?
-
Thanks. I'll look into this.

Hi @lord dredd I've split your post from the other thread. Please stop bumping that topic unnecessarily and create a new topic for new issues instead. The link to do this is in the main forum at the top-right above all topics. You can submit a map here: https://www.stronghold-nation.com/downloads/submit/ If you are already on that page, could you let me know a bit more information about what you're doing so I can try to track down what the problem might be?
-
Hi @lord dredd- I've split this into a new topic specific for your issue. We're looking forward to receiving the second part of your file. :)

*Sigh* If only the last quiz had been like this ;) This was a very good quiz! Through more luck than skill I managed to get 7/16. Great mixture of questions, as always!

Hi everyone, Early this morning, around 1 AM here in the UK, CloudFlare was hacked and my account was compromised. Unfortunately, the hacker targeted StrongholdNation specifically in my account and setup a 301 permanent redirect from here to a malicious website. It's important to note that CloudFlare is a completely different thing to the site itself, and is only used on the forum/CDN that we have. The site itself was not hacked. What did happen was an attempt to 'hack by proxy' through an external service, and, to a degree, unfortunately it worked. I've since regained control of the situation, and enabled two-factor authentication on CloudFlare so this cannot happen again. I did this within 10 hours of knowing that the hack took place. This means that you were only affected if you have visited the site since (to be safe, say Midnight UK time) until around now. If you visited the site in that time, first of all, clear all your browser cache, cookie, history, etc, everything. 301 is a permanent redirect that is cached by the browser. This means that every time you attempt to load any page on the site until caching is cleared, your browser will still attempt to redirect to the malware. Next, make sure you absolutely run a malware scan on your PC. I'm in the fortunate position of using Malware Bytes Pro, which blocked the malware for me before I was redirected to it. But some of you may have been unfortunate enough to have been redirected to it. Whatever happens, make sure you run a scan for malware. Because the CloudFlare account was compromised, I'm going to have to change SSL Certificates, API Keys and other various keys which are associated with it. I doubt that anything else will happen but I want to be absolutely sure that everything is properly secured. Once again, I must reiterate that the site itself has not been hacked, and everything is normal again.

I like these new questions, I scored 7/7. Mind, may have just led me to bankruptcy.   So confident she'd fail, yesterday I said to a friend of mine if she scored more than 3 out of 7 on the quiz, next time we're out together I'd pay for anything and everything she desires. Little did I know only around 30 minutes later Crusader would be updating the quiz.. ;) She's just sent a picture of her scoring 7/7 too....

A bit of good news and bad news: Good news is, that the second file appears to have uploaded fine. However, it does have a strange file extension, z01, which means I can't open it. Bad news is, that the first file appears to be corrupt, or at least the version I downloaded. Which is odd, because the file size was also 140~ MB, and the file size showing on the site is 80~ MB. I'm going to attempt to download this again.

I'm just taking a look at that now. :)

Question Stronghold Legends more zoom in the game?
Lord_Chris replied to m55aspe's topic in Stronghold Legends
I've corrected the formatting in the OP's posts, thanks @Crusader1307 for colour correcting it, and as you suggested it would be good to know how he was posting to the site. I am aware of this bug, but I've never been able to accurately track down what causes it and don't have sufficient evidence as to point to anything that could be the cause yet. All I can definitely say is that it's a problem with the editor. I could disable this entirely globally, but it would make formatting more difficult for users so that's not really an approach I'd like to take if I can help it. Back to the question, SHL is very slightly different compared with SH2. In Stronghold 2 there are generally two types of texture files for most units, one that is low detail and one that is high detail, and they are both used differently (and for very appropriate reasons, really). When you zoom out there's no point in showing massive quality that firstly you're not really going to see and secondly will just eat up some of the resource limits. But when you zoom in there are less units in the screen so it only makes sense to have more detail. In Stronghold Legends, though, for the most part this very sadly seems to have been scrapped on the most part. There are still occasions where this does occur, such as on Knights, and certain objects such as Gawain's Shield, but this functionality just doesn't seem to be there. What you could do, though, is in the number of cases where units are exactly the same in both Stronghold Legends and Stronghold 2, such as Archers, you could copy the high texture from Stronghold 2 and replace it in Stronghold Legends which would allow you to view them in a high texture. But ... the downside of doing so is that they'd always be displayed in a high texture. In answer to your question on the units.lodsettings.xml file, that just describes to the game where the models are located and how to load them, not on zoom .etc.
