Making a Map

So I have been searching for the answer on how to make a map in Crusader Extreme. All of the help guides that I find say this.?

Open up the SCE map editor?(DO NOT PRESS CREATE MAP YET)

Now, READ STEP 3 CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU DO STEP 3.

Create a new map then press [ESC] on your keyboard

 

First off, I no way does it show or tell how to get into the SCE map editor. When I go into the game it gives me Custom Scenarios. When you go into there, it gives you option to Load Map or New Map. If you select New Map, you have to choose the size first, if you press ESC, it just takes you out of that menu back to the main menu. So my question is. How do I create a map using SCE?

Custom Scenarios is the map editor. Select your map size, don't press ESC. You'll open a blank map that you play can play around with.

What if I would like to make a map to share with others? Then what do I do for that?

Upload it to a file-sharing site like Stronghold Nation or Stronghold Heaven. Stronghold Heaven's pretty much been dead since 2012, and I don't think people contribute to Stronghold Nation though. So you're very limited in your ability to share maps.

but if I can't play the map other than the way that was said, how can maybe play multiplayer.

When the other players enter your game lobby, they will have the option to download your map if they don't have it.

But you shouldn't hesitate to submit to both Stronghold Heaven and Stronghold Nation. You would be surprised how many people still download custom maps from these two websites. Only they are quite, they don't register, they don't comment nor rate these maps. But if you look at the downloads numbers, then you can see that these websites are being visited.

 

So you just save your map, and upload it. Don't forget to submit your minimap as well. With that one others can quickly see how does your map look like. You can use this tool called Stronghold Map PNGer to easily make minimaps by the way.

 

By the way, is there a way to subscribe at SHN downloads section, so that when something is approved in a section for a game I like, I would be notified by email for example? Do we have something like that?

 

Like Strife said, you can send your maps to others via the lobby, but keep in mind that you could send them the link to these maps. Oh, and one more thing. You can look at Stronghold Nation and Stronghold Heaven as a way to backup your maps as well. ;) I used to make many maps which I lost due to hard drive failure, or something like that, and I didn't have internet at that time, so naturally, I wasn't able to submit it to Stronghold Heaven. Well, if I was aware of the danger I would have at least burned those on a CD or DVD, or wherever possible.

That's not quite strictly true ... ;)

 

While we are behind in terms of numbers compared with HG, our site is constantly updated with new downloads, maps and content in general. Just recently actually we had a few users register and submit several new maps to us - I've just created an official extension for Stronghold 2 & updated another one here and @LordPaultheDubious has uploaded many saved games from thw Stronghold Crusader Warchest Trail - all this has just happened within the last month. And, that's in conjunction with various articles being written and forum posts such as this.

 

Over the last 90 days we've also had over 10,000 visitors here too.

Yes - though this is done on a category basis. For example, to subscribe to Stronghold Crusader Skirmish go here and click on the "subscribe" link: https://www.stronghold-nation.com/downloads/category/stronghold-crusader/skirmish/

 

You just need to select the game & download category from the main downloads index to get to that page for any category.

In fact, 5 items were uploaded in the last 2 weeks alone!

 

People still upload, and I imagine we'll see an increased rate of uploads during the summer.

 

 

 

What if I would like to make a map to share with others? Then what do I do for that?

 

Simply follow the instructions in the upload section, which can be found here - https://www.stronghold-nation.com/downloads/submit/

 

Then wait for it to be verified and then accepted by one of the staff members! :)
