  1. Sorry for coming here late. But thank you, and I guess I will have to congratulate you New Year twice this year to try to make it up.[emoji1] Sent from my Mi A2 Lite using Tapatalk
  2. This looks nice. Also, I like the way you built your walls - in some natural way. Not simply to enclose your castle.[emoji846] And interesting observations.[emoji846] Sent from my Mi A2 Lite using Tapatalk
  3. Interesting observation about campaigns, @Isiah. When I was a kid, I was learning it the hard way - straight to skirmish. Boy, even Snake way hard back then. [emoji16] A lot of stuff I didn't know how to do - how to trade, how to train Crusader troops, nor how to build siege equipment. So, that is why, when I played a mission in Crusader states if in not mistaken against Sultan Abdul and Pig, I saw Pig impossible to kill. He was so effective I'm killing my assassins and Arabian swordsmen. [emoji16] Sent from my Mi A2 Lite using Tapatalk
  4. Nicely done, it does look awesome indeed! [emoji4] Sent from my Mi A2 Lite using Tapatalk
  5. Yes, playing together with us could be nice. :) And before that, few pieces of advice. - Play in speed 40, because I'm high speed the computer has the advantage. - Yup, granary, armory, expand stockpile by few tiles, and build the market place. Never forget those in the beginning. - Them place woodcutters, to have some wood soon enough, and build several hovels. - Place someapple orchards, apples are good and cheap way to feed people. - Seling stone and iron is a good way to earn money. With that gold you can hire Arabian troops from the mercenary post. I think this is the easiest way to play this game. Sent from my Mi A2 Lite using Tapatalk
  6. Hi, LordOh! What game speed do you play with? Go into options, and make sure it's 40. And try playing against weaker opponents first, like The Rat. When playing against him, you can train some archers early in the game, and put them on you walls. That should keep you safe for a while, they would repel Rat's attacks pretty easily. 7. That is quite interesting. And an important information if somebody is about to buy the Deluxe version. One wouldn't expect to be stuck at that version from the disk. Thanks for sharing! Sent from my Mi A2 Lite using Tapatalk
  8. Let me congratulate our winners! All these are great maps, and it was a great pleasure to play them and test them! First of all, Blue Star map. It has plenty of stuff, such as those epic mountain villages connected with bridges, the march in the north-east, etc. But, because of the map being large (which is great for gameplay), some areas in the map look empty. Because this was a map for a competition, I just feel that it would indeed have been much better if the map was smaller - and with all the same details. Then it would seem much richer. However, from the aspect of gameplay, it is better that the map is large like this. 🙂 @Krarilotus, I intend to comment the map in detail some time later when I get more free time, but I have to say the following. When I mentioned Vientnamese (and Mongol) troops missing, I wanted to say that I was sceptical that having Crusader and Arabian troops will bother me. But it was not the case, both because of the great story, and because of the great scenario and great map itself. 🙂 And you really put a lot of great stuff into your scenario. You employed a lot of good tricks to get this done, and all of that combined requires a lot of patience. 🙂 @artofmath's scenario is similar in that matter - when we look at the combine castle of the two Wolves. Yes, there's a "trick" how to make a castle like that, but it's not a trick you can do in split of second. 🙂
  9. Well in that case... USA, USA, USA![emoji1][emoji631] I hope you're going to make it with your cousin's disk. Sent from my Mi A2 Lite using Tapatalk
  10. Yup, a lot of that used to work before Windows 10, or before certain version of Windows 10. For example, I used to use some older version of Daemon Tools for some stuff, and in this version I was enabling some settings. By now Daemon Tools have removed those settings from the free version, and the old installation of Daemon Tools which I have on a DVD just doesn't work. Mostly it's all fine, but here and there you see something that doesn't work, and yes, if it's about a game I grew up with, that can hurt. I even noticed that I cannot play Empire Earth on my laptop because the game doesn't support integrated GPU. Luckily, Steam offers fixes for a lot of stuff which came with Windows 10. And yes, although one might feel that making a copy for themselves of a DVD which they bought is fine, I'm pretty sure that it says somewhere on the CD box of Stronghold 2 something like "do not copy". The same way making a copy of a movie (DVD rip) is not legal.
  11. Could you try to see what happens when inserting the original disk itself? Maybe Alcohol 120% isn't causing the issue, but just a guess. Also, I think this could be done by enabling some stuff in the emulation settings, but I wouldn't want to go into "piracy waters". I do believe that you made a copy of your own disk (to prevent damage of your original disk), but if you shared this image with others - then it would be piracy for sure. If I remember correctly, 1.3 is just easier to run in the way you described than 1.3.1. And I think it's the same with 1.4 compared to 1.4.1. Also, yes, that issue which Matthew has does look the same as yours. Wondering how he managed to fix it. If he did make it at all. Sent from my Mi A2 Lite using Tapatalk
  12. Thanks for explanation, @Lord Aquila. That sounds pretty good. 🙂
  13. Maybe you'll could try to end the task (Stronghold 2.exe), and then start over. It happens to me that the game won't start on Windows 10, although I have Steam edition. And then I would terminate Stronghold 2 process, start over, and then the game starts as it should. Strange, but it works. Sent from my Mi A2 Lite using Tapatalk
  14. No, there is no way to do it through the cfg file. To change the resolution to a higher one, it has to be done throw exe and other files - simply because of how changing resolution in Crusader works. (That is, the game just had to be patched to an HD version.) It adds something to corners which in lower resolutions wouldn't be visible - among other things. On the bright side, you're not the only one playing "on 10% of your power". Others see less in the 1024x768 resolution too. :) Sent from my Mi A2 Lite using Tapatalk
  15. You've been working a lot on this, and it looks pretty interesting. Stronghold 3 already provides players to make and play games in stunning landscapes, and this pushed it much more ahead! Sorry for a dumb question now, you wrote a lot, and I might have missed it... Would you this way enable somebody to make better maps which could be played in non-modified game too, or would everybody who wants to enjoy these edits need to apply the mood on his game as well? Sent from my Mi A2 Lite using Tapatalk
  16. Glad to see all those nice changes which are going to make the downloads section even better.🙂
  17. And I am glad it's taken this long ONLY because this way I'll be able to participate in judging process. [emoji1] Sent from my Mi A2 Lite using Tapatalk
  18. This stuff would be great. Some variants of it could be really awesome. This looks like something I was thinking about years ago. At some moment I used to build the same castle almost at every situation. That is, there were several variants of the castle depending if the space I have. And when somebody plays like that, it could be fun to play Stronghold like this: show the AI how I build my castle, and later on the AI would copy my castle design, so I could focus on fight. This could also be very fun in multiplayer games too. And not to mention possibilities in custom scenarios.[emoji846] Sent from my Mi A2 Lite using Tapatalk
  19. I would have time now, I'll ask Chris about it. [emoji846] Sent from my Mi A2 Lite using Tapatalk
  20. Yes, I was supposed to, but it was completely my fault. I had tons of work this month, and some family obligations. That is why I wasn't around for a while.[emoji45] Sent from my Mi A2 Lite using Tapatalk
  21. You indeed "popped my bubble" with that "not a salute". 🙂 Yes, indeed good movies, although I could watch Shaka Zulu again. By the way, about the first two, as I mentioned it before, I also like those details. I remember even how they stored explosive (if I'm not mistaken) in the movie. In was in something like large can. Which does make sense, this way it wouldn't become wet, and if I'm not wrong, cans were invented during Napoleonic Wars for storing food. But it surprised me a lot, I would have taken it for granted that they would store it in some barrels, or wooden boxes. 😄 Instead, I still remember how one of soldiers was opening it as a can of sardines. 😄
  22. I believe this is a great example how Europeans back in 19th century, and even Europeans now when when thinking about colonizing almost entire world... It's not that advanced tactics and superior technology guarantee victory. It might do if one use it wisely, but not on its own. When reading history books in elementary school we only see how Europeans conquered Americas and Africa just like that, but people who managed to do that were also clever. Almost always we used diplomacy, and often treachery to achieve our goals. So, how to defeat Zulu? Don't go directly on them, especially not when they are at their prime. Patience, and don't make them too angry if you don't have enough strength yet. That's the best way I think. But, beside everything already said, it looks like somebody wanted to earn some glory, beside underestimating Zulu warrior moral. Sent from my Mi A2 Lite using Tapatalk
  23. That's very neat. :) Sent from my Mi A2 Lite using Tapatalk
  24. I agree with everything. Regarding an app for SHN, yes, that would give us more control about what can be done with the app, etc. But the price is indeed the problem, and in long term - I would say that a reliable website like we have it right now is far better than a website and a an app. (Expensive to keep it in the store, not trivial to make all features, fix all the bugs, support it for newer versions of the OS, and all that for both Android and iOS...) 25. Thank you Chris, this is awesome now. [emoji16] Just to show it to everybody else, this is how it looks like in Tapatalk. [emoji41] As you may see, right when hoping into the forum one can see all unread messages, or all new messages in the timeline. You can also view the forum by subsections/subforums, although I think that that in particular is more convenient to do on a PC with larger screen and in more tabs. Still, this makes it much easier to talk with others without waiting to get to a computer. There are also some ads in Tapatalk from which only Tapatalk gets money if I'm not mistaken, and getting rid of them is overpriced in my opinion. If was giving any money to anybody, I'd rather "suffer" with ads (or use an ad blocker) and donate the money directly to SHN - to keep the servers running etc. Sent from my Mi A2 Lite using Tapatalk
