I agree, @Lord_Chris! And, @mati555, I hope that if they change it so AI lords keep more troops inside their castle, it would be way more interesting already. :) They can make no mistake with that I believe. The only thing where they could mess something up is making them attack and defend village estates in smarter ways - by periodically sending larger bands of troops for those tasks. In fact, I think that if they do it like this, it would be excellent, and you wouldn't want to change a thing - I only don't know how easily can that be done.
-
So you did mean on AI Castle Editor there. Yes, that option would really be good, but still, they would hardly give us something like that, that would be asking for a moding tool. As about me, I would be happy with AI lords defending their castles better by keeping more of their troops there. Oh, and, @Lord_Chris, I don't really think that we should have that in the list, at least not like that. As I described it, it was something which would regard the map editor, so those information would need to be stored in the map file. That could over-complicate things, but I see that you have already written the suggestion in the best way possible. :) As you wrote it, it would be simple as choosing difficulty level - just like I wanted to correct myself now.
-
For example, if you make a three players map, you could assign the estate in the north to be strong, the one in southeast to be medium, and the one in southwest to be weak. So if you set to play against two William's, one if them would be stringer - it to say it better - more aggressive and with more troops in defense. I'm just trying to understand what you meant, I'm not saying any idea of mine. :) That's right. That is why I think it is better like this when it comes to ground ballistae. One could get tens if them quickly and easily, and it they could fire automatically they would be devastating. When it is as it is now, that depends of how we control put army.
-
So you were actually thinking to mark each castle estate with "the one that comes here (in this estate) should be strong, the other one that comes here (in this estate) can be less strong, while another one that comes there (in that estate) should be weak"? Yes, that is an interesting option - that way we could also order twenty of my knights to follow my lord wherever he goes inside and outside the castle, so they could protect him from an ambush. Take that, Nigel (or whoever killed my lord when he was visiting the church), bwahahaha! Oh, and like I said at SHH, maybe they don't make ballistae to fire automatically, as that way they would be overpowered. If they acted like that, they could easily destroy a small army of swordsmen for example, because one their arrow strikes several units at ones. I think we should think about that too. There is a compromise though! Put five ballistae on keyboard shortcuts such as 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, and when someone attacks you, you click click 1 - attack one soldier, 2 - attack another solder, and so on. I should also mentioned that I say this for fire (ground) ballistae, while when it comes to those on towers I agree with you. What do you think about this matter? Of course, another option would be making them so they don't hit more units at ones, but it is not bad as it is either. I just look at those as on powerful equipment which is powerful to blow several units at ones.

These are few more suggestions by mati555 from Stronghold Heaven forum. http://stronghold.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/forum/display.cgi?action=st&fn=22&tn=3964&st=recent&f=22,3964,0,10

I have another suggestion as well. When one click on Multiplayer from the game menu, they get the message about multiplayer servers being down or something like that - I don't quite remember. It would be great if there was a message saying that players can play multiplayer games with RameRanger, I believe that many of players may not know that. There could be short instructions as well, such as "start game ranger, open a room/host a game or join one, and after the host hits start Stronghold 2 will start, and you will be able to play in multiplayer." GameRanger could also be a suggested program to install like it was the case with GameSpy before.

Here is another suggestion. AI lords send away so many troops while they attack us, but they could leave some more of their troops in defense, so it would be more challenging to kill them when the time comes. Also, another thing that would be interesting to see would be AI lords sending larger armies to take over enemy villages - not to send few by few men, but to send those smaller groups and periodically to send larger armies for that task - one army with the task to take over enemy villages one by one. I worry this second wish may be too much work with AI lords, but if it was possible to do, I think we would all love to see it. But making AI lords with more troops inside their castle to better defend themselves seems not that hard to be done, though I am not competent to say how hard that is.

Me too, I also use Firefox by the way.

This seems interesting, I may participate in this one, but it depends - I still have a lot of work to do these days. It's just that this one would be a pity for me to miss it - especially because I like Stronghold 3, and this would be an opportunity to try to make something with the Stronghold 3 map editor. :)

It seems to me as an issue with Firefox, as this website doesn't have any add. :) I may be wrong, I rarely browse the forum without being logged in, but it does seem strange to me.

Welcome back, xiiMaRcLeoN, glad to see you again. :)

Regarding the trick with marches I have something to say - Strife, master of deception. :D Great tutorials.

You can do this of you first place a cliff, and then you place a wall on that cliff. After that you only need to remove the cliff in front of the wall (or around the wall, depending of what you want), and what will be left is a normal wall on a high cliff which looks like one high wall. :) Regarding making screenshots, while you're in the game you only need to press PRINT SCREEN button on your keyboard, leave the game, open Paint, and there press CRTL+V to paste your screenshot there. Then you just save that image. Also, if you have OneDrive, or something like that installed on your PC (other similar services also offer the same I guess, such as Dropbox or Google Drive), you only need to have it running, start the game, and when you want to make a screenshot, just press PRINT SCREEN, and the image will be saved in your OneDrive folder (or Dropbox, or Google Drive).

Stronghold 2 Tutorial for games starting as a freeman

Sure, I may do something like that. :) Thanks, Nigel. And yes, my major gripe about "professional" played is they calling themselves "professional". :D And then other stuff. :P -
Stronghold 2 Tutorial for games starting as a freeman
EaglePrince replied to EaglePrince's topic in Stronghold 2
Sure, I could do it for Stronghold Crusader once. :) I'm way better in that game, though we play it differently when we have no rush period, and when we play skirmish games. Firstly I made this video, because I couldn't find one for Stronghold 2 like this myself. There are some videos, but they are mostly for when a player starts with 5,000 gold. Also, what could be benefiting from my videos is that I tend to play for fun, and to build complete castles. I focus on both - economy and defenses, and I don't like using any exploits. There are certainly many "pro tutorials" for Stronghold Crusader, but there is no fun in playing like that. That's more about players wanting to be the best, which isn't good in my opinion. What would you like to see first? Singleplayer or multiplayer? -
I have bought Stronghold Collection recently for my mom (and for myself :P ), as it's on sale, and I already have SH1, SHC1, SH3, and SHC2 on my account. Then I shared those games from her account with myself, so we could both play it. Now I tried it with Stronghold Legends, and no, it doesn't work the same way as Stronghold 1 and Crusader 1. If I double-click the exe file while Steam isn't working it just shows me some error code. In order to play the game if the Steam isn't running I need to double-click an internet shortcut which was made by Steam, and then Steam starts automatically. Now I will try it with Stronghold 2 as well, but I am almost sure that it will be the same, as those two are similar games. So, yes, I finally have Stronghold Legends again. :D

Stronghold 2 Tutorial for games starting as a freeman
EaglePrince replied to EaglePrince's topic in Stronghold 2
Yes, I did have issues with that... The thing is that while I was recording my phone rang - it was my mom, she wanted me to bring in laundry, as it was about to rain. :D I paused the game when it rang, and I continued with the video, but later when I wanted to crop this peace out, I actually needed to convert the video. I don't know any other way, I just believe that's how it works - I cannot simply crop, but cropping requires converting - even if it is to the very same video format. I was doing it with Format Factory. The first version was even more blurry. I should also say that after converting it's not blurry on my PC, but for some reason YouTube made it like this. In the first video which I removed 360p was the best quality offered to the viewer. Haha, if I am not mistaken, that's the sound of my PC in one moment. :D Thanks for your compliments, guys! :) Oh, and by the way, I'm afraid that there doesn't exist a mac version of Stronghold 2. :( There may be ways to make it running on a mac, but I don't know much about that. In fact, I know nothing about mac - like John Snow. :) -
Stronghold 2 Tutorial for games starting as a freeman
EaglePrince replied to EaglePrince's topic in Stronghold 2
I removed the video, and uploaded another version, so this one has better quality. I have also updated the link above. -
Hi. This is a video I recently made. Today I was editing it, because I was called on my phone at some moment. I wanted to cut that part. I hope this will help those who find it easier to play starting with 5000 gold or more. It's a short 25 minutes video. There's nothing exciting to see in the video, but I hope it's going to be helpful. The video turned out to be low quality, so I will try to convert it again, and re-upload it. Hopefully I would turn out to be better after uploading.

Stronghold 2, 16/04/2016
EaglePrince replied to Mathew Steel's topic in Multiplayer Gaming Community's Stronghold 2
Today I learned that I won't be able to play tomorrow either. I have some work to do until the end of the following week, and we are also visiting my grandmother. -
I agree, it's indeed interesting. I should suggest that you can use some of user-made maps. Check out this section from SHN Downloads Central. You have my "permission" to use my maps, and what is more - I would be pleased if you did. And yes, I agree, that could require a lot of work. Right now I'm pretty busy, but I would be willing to help as much as I can - through play-testing and suggestions.
-
Well, maybe you could also try to see what happens if you just change that original map with another one. Maybe you could do something that way, though even like that you would still have a fight against Sultan Abdul with the same settings as in the original mission. Maybe it won't work, I don't know, but I should say that it may mess up the original Crusader Trail. Looking forward to see what you're about to do. :)
-
You're welcome. :) Also, I would like to add that, I believe one could make a scenario in which the player would play a skirmish game which you set previously. Just make a map (or use an already existing map), start a game, and save the game. Then change the extension from .sav to .map, and this should work as a custom scenario now. I'm not entirely sure, but I believe I didn't miss anything. That could be one possible workaround.

Hi, Savage101. Welcome to Stronghold Nation. I have send a personal message to Teutonen Ritter (aka Lord Stronghold) regarding this question. If he finds some time, he will try to answer your question. You can subscribe to this tread, so you could receive an email notification when he answers by clicking Subscribe to this topic link at the bottom of the tread.

I agree, but still - even if the two lords negotiate over one territory (or about single shipment, or continuous shipments of goods), why wouldn't another lord be able to take it for himself? :P Maybe we're overthinking right now. It can be put simply - players can negotiate about whatever they like, they can trade estates, goods or whatever, but as long as it is not teaming up against another lord (which we agreed before that it would not be honorable). So, for that latest reason this non-attacking agreements could be against this rule which regards teaming up against someone.
