  1. I will try that (sending goods to an enemy castle), and let you know about the result. That would be really interesting, this way you would not only be able to send iron, but weapons such as swords and armors as well. Though what I had in mind was that I had a lot of honor - I mostly had more than 1,000, so I was able to buy a village next to him, and leave it undefended for him to take it. We can say that this is another way to trade with goods as well, as there villages which produced iron and stone, so he would alsmost would get this way not only a village, but a lot of iron and stone as well. :) Still, what you described could be an interesting deal as well. :)
  2. Oh, there has been no change with that, my friend. :D It's just that I started pretty well in this game, and that I wasn't recruiting almost any army early - because we weren't fighting in early phases of the game, that would have been a waste of gold. So, before we started to fight I was expecting Chris to have knights in large numbers, and as I had a lot of gold and honor I decided to train knights instead. I mean, I love swordsmen - I like them more than knights, but as I was about to have army at full capacity, and I was expecting from Chris the same, so I expected that my swordsmen army would have been crippled by his knights. :) Also, I had smaller production of swords and armors - I didn't produce those in my villages. Too bad to hear that Chris. Hopefully it will be better next time. And regarding that estate that was far from you - if you wanted you could have traded it for another one even before we started to fight. I would buy you a closer village, while Nigel would take that one. ;)
  3. Just to drop this one here... That week the challenge was to create "a non-functional, scenery based map with rivers, waterfalls, hills and cliffs", so seas were not mentioned. It's not an issue, sea can be easily added, but I wanted to note this one. :)
  4. In the previous message here I didn't separate my latest paragraph from the rest of it, so it stayed unnoticed. To cut the long story - what do you prefer to get more gold: to have -16 taxes and: -to have +16 popularity effect with food and church, or -to have +16 popularity effect with inn and food, or -to have +16 popularity effect with inn and church? I mostly pick food + church combination, as this way I gain some honor as well, while I also use food + inn when I don't have enough space in my estate.
  5. There is no warning before quitting a game. If one, while playing, opens the menu and click quit, he would instantly go to main menu and leave the game he was playing, thus lose his progress. I hope this will be fixed. Also, configurable autosave would help with this as well, but I'd say that asking if the player is sure that he wants to leave the current game is a necessity. I'd also like to add again that multiplayer in Stronghold 2 with AI Manager works really good. The only issue is that AI lords don't build siege camps while attacking, or - they may not be sending periodically full attacks at all. Still, even like this is is way better then being able to fight against outlaws only.
  6. Back when you wrote this I was thinking about to read it, but I was always doing that partially, and I never wrote a feedback. :) As you know, this was very helpful to me. I will only say what I do now to compare your way with mine. While you want to place stockpile closer to stone, iron and wood, I do it differently - I start by placing two stockpiles next to each other near my stone keep, and I place my granary close to the fireplace in front of the keep. I do this because I can always add few more ox tethers to bring me stone faster, while this way I can also build my workshops and bakeries close to those stockpiles, so I get efficiency, and they will be easily protected within my walls. I also keep in mind - the smaller my castle is, the easier it will be defended. Also, I place bakeries between granary and stockpiles. Another thing - I build two stockpiles because in later stages of the game I will be sending lots of resources into my castle, and this way I don't have to worry if it is full while I'm fighting. I am unsure what you meant by this, but I do tend to buy some stone after the first promotion to build lords kitchen. I don't have to buy wood, I usually have a lot of wood pretty soon, but I do buy some food for lords kitchen. This way I can get promoted to another ranks quickly, and perhaps even buy a village. I do have this habit to buy that fancy food I don't produce - in my castle estate I mostly build only vegetable gardens and pig farms. I also buy clothes. Still, here you were describing how to make a start, and how to prepare for battle by our usual deal not to attack before we are dukes.I would like to bring into this tread how to make gold, to hear what are your ways. For example, what I usually do is producing food to give my people double rations. This way I get honor too. Also, I build church - castles are easily produced even inside the castle if needed, but it's preferred in a village, and thanks to church and food I get +16 popularity factor which allows me to take maximum taxes - to -16. Do you do the same way? I usually use only food and church to get this popularity factor, but do you use inn for example? In my case they are unnecessary. On the other hand, maybe I would be getting more gold overall if I build an inn and produce ale to get +8 popularity factor, and not to give double rations to people but to sell food. This way I would be getting less honor, but I would get more gold... So actually, we choose between more gold or more honor. :) What is your choice here? :)
  7. Perhaps we could see about the next weekend right away! How about next Sunday (or another day) at the same time (or later)? EDIT: Oh, and, Lord Chris... :) I just just started reading this tread, and I noticed "Try and keep above 5000 gold. This will reassure that you can train a lot of troops as backup.". Then I wanted to tell you - this time I got everything working in my castle so well, that when I started attacking you didn't have only 5,000 gold as Mathew said would be good, but I know that in one moment I had 18,000 gold. :D This was a good game, though for me it was even better... I was only a little bit slow with adding some economy buildings in my villages. On the other hand, when I was making this map, I set those villages to have larger economies, so they had resources to be sent to my castle from the moment I bought them.
  8. I play it in 1024x768 - even if I play on wide screen. I could see more on higher resolution, but I'm used to this one. :)
  9. No problem, my friend. :) We will meet another time on battlefield. ;)
  10. Also, as it's going to be four of us against two AI lords, I would suggest to play with biggest human disadvantage. Beside this, I am also suggesting considering to play Tri Reke so we could play 4vs4. I'm not insisting on this, of course. :)
  11. Sure, Tokamaps, I'm glad you'll be able to join as well. :) Also, Mathew, we could make another event for the next weekend. Keep in mind, the tool is still being reported as a virus, but like with the older version of the tool - we believe it is safe. If you need any help with the tool, ask us in the tread. And of course, like I have written there already - only the host needs to use the tool, which is great. Oh, and Chris, you have a good PC, right? I think the Hanne would work better if I set everything, leave the room - leave the host to the another one, and come back. The change could lay if the host is on a less powerful machine. My newer one would be good, but if I'm going to be on my older one - this trick could be necessary. Fortunately, all of you have better PC's than my older one.
  12. We have found the AI manager for 1.4.1, you can have a look into the years about that in Stronghold 2 subforum. :)
  13. Sure! I agree. I beehive he will like it to start as freeman too, but the best week be to hear how opinion. We should also remind him that there are lots of outlaws on this map, so one will have to make his troops fast. I should also note that outlaws will attack pretty soon - before we actually become knights, but we will be able to deal with that with our lord's, or we could use wooden walls and men at arms to defend ourselves.
  14. Sure, we can play like that. I just want to ask, by which settings would like us to play? It would be by starting as freeman, but on which positions would we play? And what would be the teams?
  15. That's great, I'm glad to hear that! Now, I guess we would play 3vs5 AI lords, so Dolina Odmetnika wouldn't do - unless we would play against each other, but I am open for other suggestions as well. We can also play Tri Reke, that one would be good for 3vs5, but that is not the only option. :)
  16. 15:00 would be great for me as well! I am changing it to that time.
  17. We would play this one against AI lords. If someone would like to join us on our quest, please do. :) I'm still not sure about the time, I just put this 20:00 as we almost always play at 20:00 or 19:00... If another time would suit you better, let us know, or if you would want to join, but on another day. We can also make more of those events. Also, we would like to deal what map do we play before meeting at GameRanger! There are my suggestions: -Tri Reke(there are many possible settings here) -Dolina odmetnika(we could play against AI lords from the other side of the river, while we would be in the east. Note that some AI lords can't can't outlaws close to their castle, but some like Olaf handle them easily) -Forest Realm(maybe less interesting for this one, but we can try that one as well if you want) There are also many interesting maps by Lord Vetka, such as The Valley, The Journey, Pine Valley, Evilrise, Dugin, Upper Ustates, or Arden. You can download any of them from SHN Downloads Central.
  18. Interesting idea for a thread. :) I'd say that the best would be not to be able to get guns so easily. In my country one needs to do a lot of that in order to prove that he is mentally stable, etc... in order to have a gun. I don't know how it works now exactly, but when I was a kid I heard that they used to check your background (including your family) before you would be able to get a permission to have a gun. Now, if the system here in Serbia worked better, I would say this would be perfect. Unfortunately, you know that war was here during 90's, and I believe I am not mistaken that too many people here have guns illegally. Also, law enforcement is pretty bad over here - if someone threatens you, there is little police would do... Also, for this same reason, I believe that even nowadays those who shouldn't have weapons can buy them easily, and they would be checked for having those weapons only after attacking someone... One could report him, but still, people have little trust that police and other institutions are going to do their job... So, in this case - being able to buy weapons legally wouldn't change much maybe - for those who buy it illegally, but it would be a difference for those who would only want to defend themselves. I don't know what is better... The best would be if none would be able to get it legally but police and military, but still... Now when it is like this, I'd say the best would be as I described in the first paragraph. If those those who are not problematic and who don't have problematic families are able to get it, they would be able to defend themselves, because any of them would be ably to get a gun. Also, harder it is for the "bad guys" to get their weapons, the better it is. So, being able to get weapons shouldn't be as easy as going to super market. Perhaps it would be perfect that the state encourage those law obeying people to buy guns. Oh, and I don't want to be that it is "wild west" here in Serbia, but unfortunately, law enforcement here is pretty bad, and we don't have trust in our country to help us. We mostly compare this state of things to the one during SFR Yugoslavia. On one hand, that was bad - police could beat you up for no reason (because someone reported you for something), while today people can report someone for something, but they are worried that police wouldn't do the job, and that they would have even more problems than they used to have.
  19. Also, check out in Stronghold 2 section - we have recently found a way to play Stronghold 2 with AI lords in multiplayer. :) I believe you will find that interesting.
  20. Warmly welcome back, our friend. :D Glad to see you back, and of course, those things you mentioned are indeed the most important, so it is more than an excuse. ;)
  21. Thanks for the reply. Well, yes, I do not know how much of your time this would require, you know it better. :)
  22. Hi, as far as I know, Tapatalk is an app which can be used from all major operative systems including Android, iOS, Windows Phone /Windows Mobile, Blackberry OS, etc. but for Windows 10 users as well... Now, if I understood that correctly, for one to visit a forum with Tapatalk, the forum needs to install a plugin, and there are two questions then... Do Stronghold Nation administrators want to have that plugin, and would Tapatalk be willing to do this for us. Still, I believe that if we want, we could find an app which we could use, though one as Tapatalk would be good for the task as it would cover all platform except Windows 7/8/8.1 for PC. What do you think? This would make everyone easier to visit and spend time at Stronghold Nation. :) Another option of course is to have mobile friendly forum template, though Tapatalk would still have its benefits over that - such as notifications on the phone, and stuff like that.
  23. I just want to tell that if someone wants to try this tool, try it, I think it will most likely work. Of course, you would have to have the original exe file for that, without any modifications. Maybe this discussion here could discourage you, but you should still try it if you want to play with AI lords, and keep in mind that those to who this works great don't come right away to say "yes, it works" - just like with all those downloaded war scenarios we have in download section. Many download them and play them, but few comment - which would be welcomed, of course. :)
  24. Thanks for your explanations, this really helps. :) So, "to whom it may concern" is the best when I don't know the person, and that would be like that one "po?tovani" ("respected") in my language. And the fact that "dear" is fine i for those situations in English.:) Thanks for your help and detailed explanations.
