Dating to perhaps the 17th Century, The Persian clothing style known as ''Zardozi'' was a form of highly intricate sewing using patterns of flowers and ''sacred'' Royal animal symbolism. Zardozi was regulated to only the finest of materials (silk, satin and related). so time consuming, it would often take a ''crew'' of upto five craftsmen 4 months to craft some of the most beautiful designs. Zardozi sewing is extremely valuable today (and far more cost prohibitive - providing trained craftsmen can be found). Often gold and silver wiringm as well as jewels were incorporated. In truth, most Zardozi sewing was regulated to those of Royalty.  Zardozi ''fashion'' would also be popular in certain portions of Northern India (who had a similar sewing style, but not quite as detailed). Several examples were purchased by English Royalty as wells as wealthy american Magnates (for their wives) - in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries.
