Raised in 1774 in Taunton, Massachusetts – The Taunton Flag was an early semi-political flag – leveled at England's continued “Tax Acts”. Wishing to also show unity with the other American Colonies with the same problems (and beginning to send Representatives to gather for a Convention of Grievances), The Taunton Flag was simply “The Queen Anne Flag” (or Red Naval Ensign). The Blazon placed at the bottom of the Colors (in White) – read, “LIBERTY AND UNION”.
