Seen as early as 1277, The Standard of The Cross of St. George represented The Kingdom of England. This Standard was a common sight on many Middle Eastern battlefields of The Crusades. Although not officially decreed as such by English Government, it was used by The English Navy as their principle Flag for almost 400 years. The Cross of St. George was incorporated into the Cross of St. Andrews and The Cross of St. Patrick to form the official British Union Jack.
