From Ancient Egypt, Serapis was a Hybrid God . Depicted in a human form , he is shown with a Greek-style hairstyle (with pleated extensions or beard). He is also seen with a Measure Scale. Associated sometimes with the Goddess Isis Serapis represents fertility. In later Dynasties, he loses his human form and is shown as twin Serpents. His Cult seemed to develop around the Reign of Ptolemy I (and lasted in Egypt until the late 3rd Century B.C.). Somewhat resurrected in Roman beliefs - inscriptions have been found in Ancient England (during it's occupation).
