  Seen from the 17th Dynasty onward, Sekhmet was an important Leonine Deity . Human in form with the Head of a Lioness she was often considered the Daughter of Re (and VERY powerful). Many Egyptian Kings invoked her as their Military Patroness . To honor her, one would wear a Book of Cloth around one's neck. This mini-book had prayers and spells of protection.
