Unlike the “actual” Sea Creature, The Sea Lion of Medieval Heraldry was quite different. Shown as Part-Lion and Part-Fish, they were first seen in the 12th and 13th Century. They were common in English Heraldry. Coloring varied. Some known attributes were “Strength” and “Courage” (much as the actual Land version).
