First unfurled in 1836, The San Felipe Flag was made for Alabama State Militia Volunteers who came to fight with the Texan rebels in The Revolution of 1836. A highly detailed and complex Flag, it featured multiple images of Patriotism. An extended Canton was applied. In the Upper Canton (left), was The English Union Jack. Below this, in the Lower (left) Canton was a Blue Field with a single White Star (to represent The Texas Republic). The remainder of the Flag was constructed with 7 Red Stripes and 6 White ones (representative of The US National Flag). The phrasing “Our Country's Rights, Or Death” - was placed on the White stripes (one word per Stripe, and taking up the entirety of the Center.
