These types of flags were created for use as early as 1804 (and used up to 1824), the purpose of these Colors were for use by “friendly” Tribes. If a Tribe capitulated to The US Government, (via Treaty), The Chief of The Tribe was allowed to fly this Flag (to signify his friendly intent – and keep US Forces from attacking his Village – hopefully). A standard 13 red and white stripe motif (as was the American Flag), the upper left Canton featured a dark blue field. Within the field was an Eagle with 13 stars surmounted over it's head. In 1802, The Eagle was more white. By 1824, a full color schemed Eagle was incorporated. After 1830, The US Government stopped issued these flags to Tribes.
