Like they “Maily” style, “Masoning” was the covering of a Shield (Field) – with a brick-like pattern. It could be used to impart “strength or steadfastness”. It was also popular with some Masonic Holders as a way to convey their Order. The practice of Masoning stopped around the 18th Century for the most part.
