A popular creature (Bird), seen in French Arms around the 11th Century, The Martlet is portrayed in “Sable” (or Black). In England (when adopted), The Martlet was shown without legs and feet (as if possibly in a “sitting” position). Even stranger, The Martlet was drawn without it's beak (on occasion). The Martlet is considered a “Canting Arm”. The are common with the imparted attributes of “Speed” and “Restlessness”.
