The Los Angeles ''Rangers'' were among the first Law Enforcement Agencies founded in Los Angeles County, California (US). Established in 1852, The Rangers were a sworn Police Agency tasked with mounting Posse's and general Law Enforcement Duties. As many as 100 Men were sworn in to perform this task. Officially, The Rangers fell under control of The State Militia (eventually The National Guard), and had full Authority within The State. Eventually disbanded in 1856, The Rangers would form the future nucleus of both The Los Angeles Sheriff's and Los Angeles City Police Department.
