The unusual formation of The Deity known as ''Hermanubis'', was a combination of Late Period Egyptian Mythology being fused with Ancient Roman Mythos. With Roman Occupation of Egypt (30 BC), many such Gods of Egypt underwent such ''changes''. Combining Rome's Hermes (Messenger of The Gods) with Egypt's Anubis (Guardian of The Dead) ''produced'' a ''new'' Deity called Hermanubis. Portrayed as a Hybrid Human Male (depicted in Greco-Roman attire) with the Head of a Jackal, His attributes were Patron of Truth and Protector of The Egyptian Priesthood. This would continue until the 2nd Century AD.
