A “coinage” from The Middle Ages, The Gulden (or Goldgulden) – was minted around the 13th/14th Centuries. It was similar to the German Florin. The Gulden was a “regional” coin used in The Rhineland, Frankfurt, Main and a few others. Considered a “secondary Imperial coin”, The Gulden weighed 3.5 grams and was inferior to a traditional Florin (being only 19% actual Gold). They also lacked great (or well defined) engravings.
