The German Sd.Kfz 171 Tank, known as "The Panther" Tank, was developed in 1943 to augment Germany's Tiger and Panzer Series of Battle Tanks. Variants in 1944 was specifically designed as a counter to Soviet Russia's T-34 Tank, which by this time, was "King of The Battlefield". Fielded for a 5-man crew, The Panther weighed 50-tons and had a top speed of 30 mph. It also featured a 75 mm Main Gun, capable of ranges up to 1,600 yards (with HE rounds). It was supplemented with twin 7.92mm Machine Guns. The Panther was protected by 5.5 inches of armor plate (again to counter The T-34). The Panther carried 80 main gun rounds and over 5,000 rounds of machine gun reserve rounds, as well. It had a range of 160 miles before refuelling. Only 5,000 were produced before The War's end.
