Designed as a light-weight Machine Gun for The French Army (1938), The MAS-38 was a 7.65mm, Clip fed Sub-Machine Gun popular with Free French (Resistance) Forces in World War II. Cheap to produce, The MAS-38 would continue as a National Police weapon into the 1950s, and was used by French Colonial Occupation Forces in Indochina. Versions were found as late as the 1960s in use by Communist NVA Forces in Vietnam. Weighing 9-pounds, The MAS-38 was rated with a 600-rpm cyclic fire and had a maximum effective range of 200-meters. A steel magazine held 32-rounds. In it's more infamous role, a version of The MAS-38 was used to assassinate deposed Italian Dictator Benito Mussolini in 1945.
