The Norse Faering was a type of small Rowboat. Seen in use originally starting in the 6th Century AD forward, it was a multi-purpose Vessel. The Faering could be both rowed by two Oars or could use a retractable Sail on a central Mast. The Mast was roughly 12-feet in height. A Faering ranged from 10 to 12-feet long and was 4 to 5-feet in width. Made of wood, it could accommodate 2 to 3 passengers. The Faering used for Fishing and short distance travel over Fjords, Rivers and Lakes .
