In simple terms to “Diaper” a Coat of Arms, was to “fill in” any vacant spaces with color or symbolism. This could be the heavy use of leaves, acorns, tree branches – etc. In some Kingdoms, “Hatching and Cross-Hatching” was used to accomplish this. It was a difficult practice to maintain the “Achievements” were plainly seen without the “Diapering” being too intense.
