Originating from France around the 15th Century AD, The Cross Cerecelee was later known as The ''Anchor Cross''. A traditional Christian Cross symbol, the Caps of the crossbar and foundation bar feature twin opposing top caps which curved downwards. Used in Heraldry by Nobility, The Cerecelee would survive well into the 19th Century as an embellishment for Crests and Arms.
