Burgee's were 15th Century Pennant Flags that were used to denote Royal Naval Ships. They were small pennant pieces of cloth or silk that were triangular in overall shape. They bore Armorial Coats of Arms and denoted when The Peer was aboard said Ship. They would be displayed on the Upper most Main Masts. In later Eras, The Burgee was used to denote a Noble or Royal Private Yacht or similar ”pleasure vessel”.
