The Avro 701 ''Athena'' was a British Royal Air Force Training Plane, first used in 1950. A small production of only (22) such Planes were used. Their primary Mission was for Armament Training (both Air and Ground Support). Crewed by (2), The ''Athena'' was a prop driven Aircraft, which featured a single Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 Piston Engine, This produced 1,300-HP. The ''Athena'' was 40-feet on length with a wingspan of 41-feet. Airspeed was rated at 300-mph with an operational ceiling of 30,000-feet. Armament for training was (1) .303 Machine Gun with the ability to support multiple Rocket deployment packages. By 1955, all had been replaced with more advanced (Jet Trainers).
