Designed in The Netherlands around the 14th/15th Century, The Bilander was a Trade and Passenger vessel. They were typically under 100 displaced tons and rarely reached over 125 feet long. Noted for a trapezoidal Mainsail, The Blander was a popular ship seen in The Mediterranean Sea. Used on canals in The Netherlands, they featured a shallow draught (perfect for this implementation). Not often armed, when Bilanders were, they featured Swivel Guns (for their weight and ease of use). The Bilander would be replace by more efficient vessels around the 18th Century.
