A Title dating back to 5th Century BC Greece, ''Autokrator'' was associated with the Military Rank of ''Supreme Leader'' or ''Commander'' (akin to a Field Marshal or General of The Army). Ancient Rome did not adopt the Title - but after the ''split'' of The Empire into The West and East - Autokrator would be re-established in The East (Byzantine), as a form (first), of ''Noble Advisor'' to The Emperor. Still later, it would be used as an honorific ''attachment'' tactic with that of Emperor.
