An ''Old Kingdom'' (2,100 BC) God, Atum is considered to be The ''First'' God having ''created Himself''. Is was also originally placed ''above'' Ra (who would later become the Principle Deity in Ancient Egypt. Depicted as a Man, Atum is also known as ''The Finisher of The World''. In other words, Atum could (and will) ''destroy The World'' by water (seen as the source of Life to The Ancient Egyptians). Atum was unique in that He carried both Female and Male creation traits. He is mentioned in The funerary Text ''The Book of The Dead'', taking on the guise of a Snake. Atum would also be portrayed in other animal guises throughout His Worship Cults. Various Temple and Monuments were built in His honor.
