Philip II (Spain), died today. Noted for starting Spain's “Golden Age”, Philip saw Spanish Colonies established throughout the known World (as far as The Philippine Islands in The Pacific Ocean – also named for him). The term “The Empire on which The Sun Never Sets” was coined during his reign. Philip was also responsible for The Spanish Armada (to be used against England for it's invasion). This event failed. He died at 71.
This term is ascribe to anyone who has the legal right to bear Arms and claim Heraldry, under Authority. The act of simply “saying” one is a Noble (or possessing a Coat of Arms), does NOT necessarily make one an Armiger.
