''Ankh''

Perhaps one of the most recognized symbols of Ancient Egypt and it’s mysteries – was The ‘’Ankh’’. Perhaps made even more so by Western Film and Literature, The Ankh actually served as a component of Egyptian writing (Hieroglyphics) as far back as 5,000 BC. By 2,050 BC – the very symbol was associated with the word ‘’Life’’ and was applied to both ‘’Natural Life’’ and ‘’Eternal Life’’. The symbol was used to establish a Pharaoh as ‘’Divine’’ (from the Gods) to His Subjects, and was worn as an Amulet about Their neck. The Ankh was also used as a ‘’Judgement Scepter’’ by The King when He sat in Judgement of violators of The Law. Egyptian Icons (Statuary) of ‘’Creator Gods’’ often included an Ankh symbol (Ra, Osiris, Isis etc.) Adopted later by Paganism as a related symbol (with modifications), some Scholars point to the fact that The Ankh was the true ‘’genesis’’ for The Christian Cross, with it’s upper loop removed (as opposed to Jesus Christ’s execution device). Still worn as jewelry today – it has a variety of different meanings among various quasi-Folk Religion Sects.
