 From Ancient Egyptian Mythology comes The Ammit. This was a God was was also known as The Soul Eater and was associated with divine retribution . Part Lion, Hippo and Crocodile The Ammit lived in The Underworld was an important part of accounting for one's life . Once Judged by Osiris, (using weight scales)- if a soul was deemed unworthly , it would be fed to Ammit. This was akin to the Christian theory of eternal damnation .
