Relatively a modern myth of Germanic Countries (19th Century), Zwarte Piet was said to be an Assistant to St. Nicolas. Described as a Moor, he wears 16th Century clothing. As a way of keeping Piet happy, Children are told to leave candy and cookie pieces for him throughout their house. Although some place Piet around the 12th Century for an Origin, no clear linkage to St. Nicolas can really be traced. Some link Piet to a nicer version of The Krampus. Piet will report bad children to St. Nick!
