''Ziz''

In Judaic Mythology – ''Ziz'' was a ''Great Beast'' – similar to The European Griffin (another mythical Beastie). The Ziz had ''great black wings'' that could be spread out to ''block The Sun''. Somewhat related to The Hebrew God and His command to ''blot out The Sun'', as a means of ''getting attention'' from those who transgress against His will – The Ziz actually only appears once in The Old Testament.
