Known as Jupiter to The Romans, Zeus was a major component to Greek Mythology and mainstay for hundreds of Legends from the Ancient Greek World. Zeus was Father and later Ruler of all other Gods and Goddesses. Zeus wad considered as "old as time itself". And therefore figured into Greek Creationism. Living (along with his fellow Gods), on Mount Olympus, this mythical location was said to have been constructed by placing the tallest mountains ever made, stacked one on top of each other - reaching into the Heavens. Zeus watched Mankind from his Palace there.
Zeus was described in various ways. Early in his history, he was portrayed as a "young and vital Warrior God", able to control all weather and related conditions. His weapon of choice was the Thunderbolt. Zeus used this not only as a weapon, but as an instrument of judgment. In time, Zeus was portrayed as mired "aged and wise", but still no less lethal with his judgments or temper when provoked Father to many half-human, half-Gods from his many affairs with human females, these "offspring" would give rise to the term "Demi-God" and their identity as "Hero's and Heroines". These characters played and important bridge in Greek mythological history. Zeus was heavily associated with hundreds of takes relating to explaining human "morality lessons", used to explain the "Unexplained" in Ancient Greece. Much of the belief system was challenged with the rise of Philosophy and analytical thought.
