In the African Yoruban Folk Religion, ‘’Yemanja’’ is ‘’Queen of Orishas’’ (or Spirits). In addition to overseeing ‘’Their’’ actions, She is often invoked by Yoruban Women for protection if Childbirth, Marital Love and Healing. Seen as ‘’Creator Mother’’ of all Human Life, Yemanja is also credited for the creation of many mythological creatures, such as the ‘’Fish People’’ – or ‘’Mermaids and Mermen’’.
