A rather odd venture into The Werewolf Film Genre, Columbia Studios 1994s ''Wolf'' fails on several levels as a modern foray into Werewolves. Perhaps The Studio tried to attempt an early revamp on the mythical Beastie, as a counter to the many Vampire, Ghoul and Paranormal Films beginning to ''rise'' (as it were). Featuring the even odder casting of Veteran Film Actor Jack Nicholson with Michelle Pfeiffier is just as bizarre as The Plot. An old, but respected Publishing Editor is forced out of His position by a younger and much more ''cutthroat'' up-and-comer in The Business. Learning that His Wife is secretly having an affair with His rival doesn't help matters either. During a long drive in the woods one night, finds Jack accidentally hitting a large ''Black Dog'' with his car. Checking on the status of the wounded animal, He is bitten.

As you can expect, the Dog was really a Werewolf. Slowly Jack begins to transform into a Wolf. He learns that after three such Lunar ''events'' He will forever transform into a Wolf. Using a Talisman to curb the change, He searches for a more permanent solution. Meeting and falling in love with the Daughter of His Publishing House Owner (a spoiled rich girl), She is drawn to Him as well. But Jacks rival is likewise bitten by Jack (in Wolf form), and slowly too begins to change. Jack's rival too seems to have ambitions for the Publisher's Daughter, which leads to a climatic ''Wolf vs Wolf'' battle. The end is as strange and confusing as the over offering. ''Wolf'' did not fare well with Critics. It has some good atmospherics and passable eerie music, but one should watch not really expecting much – other than Jack Nicholson as a Werewolf (even through the at times -  laughable make-up).
