According to The Mythology of The Native American Sioux, in particular The Lakota Tribe – ''Wis'' was a Supreme Being, akin to The Great Spirit Creator ''Wakan Tanka''. Wis was ''The Spirit of The Sun''. The Sun was the ''Giver of All Life'' in regards to growth and seasonal changes (of which The Lakota put much faith into for their very existence). The Lakota later would personify Wis as a '' Male Figure'' in whom great ''supernatural abilities'' were placed. Wis was ''married to The Moon – or ''Hanhepi Wis''.
