Still a "staple" Water Torture, was more of a procedure rather than device or tool. Very old (possibly going back to the 1st Century BC), water being used to illicit information by force was a simple and cost effective method. A Victim was tied to a board or similar device (fixed and slightly ''tilted'' by the head). Often a funnel would be forced into the mouth and held there by force. Hot or cold water would be poured until the victim began to choke (simulation of drowning). An Administrator of this technique had to be very "gifted" to know just how far to take the torture. There were (and are), many variation on Water Torture. The Spanish Inquisition was particularly found of this procedure.
