The Male counterpart of a Female Witch – ''Warlock'' traces it's origin as a word from first The Norse (7th Century) and later Old English (which was adopted with The Norse Invasions of England around the 9th Century). Seen as a ''Caller of Spirits'', Warlocks may not have been seen as evil at first. Many were possibly Male Herbalists and Folk Healers. With the adoption of Christianity, all forms of Folk Magic and Pagan Practices were seen as evil and banned. Any Warlock found practicing such were tried and executed. The Medieval Era saw Warlocks ''painted'' in a more darker light. Seen as Sorcerers and developers of Evil in The World – much of their ''evil'' was due to literary development in the 15th Century forward. At one point both a Magician and Warlock were seen as one in the same.
