''Wally'', The Wallowa Lake Monster

According to The Native American Nez Perce Tribes. The Wallowa Lake in Northern Oregon had been ‘’around’’ since The ‘’Great Father’’ made it. Modern Geologist assign it a probable time of 7,000 years prior. A particularly deep ‘’fresh water’’ source, The Nez Perce have for many Centuries told a Legen of a giant ‘’Animal’’ which lives and hunts inside it’s cold waters. It was not until the late 1880s – that Caucasian Settlers would hear of the Tales and give The Creature an affectionate name – ‘’Wally’’. Those Settlers and Hunter-Trappers who have seen The Lake Monster, have at times given very different descriptions. From a possible Plesiosaur (a prehistoric long extinct creature), to ‘’fresh water Whale’’. To even ‘’Giant Crab-like’’ Monster. It is in this description which is the more intriguing. Wallowa Lake does in fact have a plethora of different fresh water crustaceans. Based on some sightings, ‘’Wally’’ may be an undiscovered form of freshwater Lobster, but one that was able to grow to between 15 and 20-feet in length!  Another ‘’candidate’’ for Monster is a massive Worm, segmented with boney ‘’armor’’ (according to some!) The depth of The Lake is also not quite truly known. The deepest any sounding equipment registered was 270-feet. It may MUCH deeper. Many expeditions have attempted to locate ‘’The Wallowa Lake Monster’’ but to date no one has been ‘’lucky’’ enough.
