‘’Vellamo’’ was The Finnish Goddess associated with all things Water (Lakes, Rivers etc.) Her outward physical appearance closely resemble the mythological Creature known as a Mermaid. Vellamo lived beneath The Seas, and was attended by ‘’magical’’ Sea Cows. Her dress came from seaweed and ocean foam. In addition to protecting all forms of water life, if properly venerated BEFORE a trip across water (or The Ocean), Vellamo would protect that Person and the very Vessel They traveled on. So popular in Finnish (and neighboring Nations), She still appears on Official City Seals and Crests of Arms.
