''Varan'' (1958)

Or aka ''Varan, The Unbelievable'', was a 1958 Japanese ''Kaijin'' (Giant) Monster Film. Varan was a ''Protector'' of an Ancient Japanese Native Village and lived in a nearby Lake. When The Village is destroyed, Varan decides to ''settle the score'', by destroying The City of Tokyo. Tricked into consuming explosives by The Japanese Military, the explosion does not kill Varan initially but drives Him into The Sea (and out of sight). Popping up again in 1968s ''Destroy All Monsters'' (which featured an all-star Monster Cast), Varan is part of the ''Tag Team'' against Godzilla. However, with so many Monsters to battle, Varan is only seen slightly. He is best described as a ''Giant Horned Lizard''.
