2019s inventive and rather unusual Horror film "Us" - sadly did not get the accolades it deserved. The borderline Horror & Sci-Fi film served more so to spotlight the racial bias in America between Black and White citizens than most, and did so using perceived horror. Dealing with a modern Black American family of a Father, Mother and two pre-teen children, they decide to get away to a rental home retreat. They are soon "haunted" by Doppelgangers (evil spirits) that loom exactly as they do. The " creatures" wear strange "onesie" that are all red in color and of course wear terrifying masks. The goal of these creatures is to apparently kill their counterparts. We soon find out that they are called "Tethered". And as our Family fights for survival, we learn Black Americans all over The Country are being attacked as well. The reason? Years earlier, a secret Government experiment was conducted, which stole DNA from all American Black citizens. Clones were grown in deep underground facilities. It was hoped that these slightly dimwitted and controllable duplicates would replace their counterparts, thus allowing The Government to control them. As Tethered Clones (who also form a mental attachment to their Hosts) succeed on "removing" Their Host, they mysteriously come together and firm a Human chain which begins to spread from Coast to Coast. It is a form of protest it seems. The Clones wish to be seen and inclusive as viable beings. Strange and twisty, "Us" is an excellent and thought provoking piece of 21st Century modern Horror, well worth a watch.
